Mr. C. B. Spence, Jr., age 81 of Missouri City, formerly of Latexo, passed away Thursday, March 27, 2008 in the Silverado Senior Living in Sugar Land. Mr. Spence was born April 18, 1926 in Houston County, Texas and had been living in Missouri City for the past 2 years, previously living in Latexo most of his lifetime. Mr. Spence was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II. Mr. Spence had retired from Exxon Mobile where he worked as a chemist and was a member of the Latexo Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife Jimmie Gallant Spence, of Missouri City; son John Wesley Spence and wife Belinda, of Sugar Land; daughter Kristen Spence Turner and husband Mike, of Pearland; granddaughters Nicole, Brianna and Brooke; numerous cousins and other relatives.
Preceded in death by his parents Chester and Alice Spence; and an infant son Gary Wayne Spence.
Funeral Services for Mr. C. B. Spence, Jr. were held Saturday, March 29, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. in the Latexo Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Jones and Dr. Jack Shoultz officiating. Interment followed in the Latexo Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Research or Charity of Choice.

Mr. Dwayne Hightower, age 65 of Crockett, passed away Thursday,
April 3, 2008, in the East Texas Medical Center-Crockett. Mr. Hightower was born January 7, 1943 in San Augustine County, Texas and was a resident of Crockett for the past 4 years, previously living in Splendora. Mr. Hightower was employed with Crockett Sand and Gravel where he was a truck driver. Mr. Hightower was a member of The Lord’s Chapel in Splendora.
Survivors include his wife Sandra Hightower, of Crockett;
children Dwayne Hightower, Jr., of Crockett, Larry Hightower and wife Sandy, of Splendora; grandson Dwayne Hightower III, of Lynchburg, Va.; granddaughter Sandra Yvone Hightower, of Camp Wood; sisters Janelle Dickerson and husband Jerry, of Lufkin, Barbara Plagens and husband David, of Center; half brothers Paul Hightower and wife Avis, of Houston, Larry Hightower and wife Mynette, of Houston, Pat Hightower and wife Jill, of Houston; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Preceded in death by his granddaughter Ashley Hightower; and parents L. C. Hightower and Oleta Neumeyer.
Graveside Funeral Services for Mr. Dwayne Hightower will be held Saturday, April 5, at 2:00 p.m. in the Kurten Cemetery in Bryan, Texas with the Rev. David Muck officiating.

Mr. Henry Barber Spinks, age 61 of Crockett, passed away Monday, March 31, 2008. Mr. Spinks was born May 13, 1946 in Crockett, Texas and was a lifetime resident of Crockett. Mr. Spinks had worked as an electrician and was of the Baptist Faith. 
Survivors include his children Shelia West and husband John, of Ariz., Steven Spinks and wife Staci, of N. M., Ben Spinks and family, of Texas, Natalie Gomez and husband Jose, of Ind.; grandchildren Jacey and Dalton West, Ashlie, Jacob and Joshua Spinks and Waylon Gomez; sisters and brothers Joe ann Blackwell, Lucy Sherrod, both of Crockett, Sallie Reid and husband Bobby, of Port O’Connor, Tommie Corbin and husband Billy Jack, of Nacogdoches, Kirby Spinks and wife Linda, Lawrence Carroll (Snuffy) Spinks, both of Crockett and Susie Weisinger and husband Jimmy, of Grapeland; many wonderful nieces, nephews and great friends.
Preceded in death by his parents Joe and Lelia J. Spinks; brother Bill Spinks; and sister Nancy Spinks.
Memorial Services for Mr. Henry Barber Spinks were held Friday, April 4, at 2:00 p.m. in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Dennis Ivey officiating.
