YVONNE “DOBBA” COX
Mrs. Yvonne “Dobba” Cox, age 73 of Grapeland, passed away Saturday, December 3, 2011 at her residence. Mrs. Cox was born November 26, 1938 in Houston County, Texas and had been living in Grapeland for the last 16 years, previously living in Houston. Mrs. Cox enjoyed researching genealogy of her Indian heritage and her hobbies were arts and crafts. Survivors include her son Billy Cox, of Palestine; daughter and son-in-law Charlotte Cox and Gary Zabawa, of Houston; grandchildren Angel Cox, of Round Rock, Nathan Cox and wife Pam, of Latexo, B. J. Cox, of Elkhart; great-grandchildren Natalie Cox, Ethan Cox, Kelsey Cox, Chase Cox and Brandon Cox; brother Earl Musick and wife Vivian, of Houston; special friend Butch Thumann, of Elkhart; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Preceded in death by her husband Billy D. Cox; and parents Earl and Aldine Musick. JOHN C. OLIVER
Mr. John C. Oliver, age 63, of Ratliff, passed away Friday, December 2, 2011 in Lumberton. Mr. Oliver was born August 21, 1948 in Houston County, Texas and had lived in Ratcliff for most of his lifetime. He was a retired truck driver and a member of the Mt. Vernon Church. Survivors include his children Jennifer Oliver and Bobby Licht, of Lumberton, Melissa Oliver, of Lufkin, Douglas Oliver and wife Wendi, of Sherwood, Oregon, Mandi Whitaker and husband Mark, of Slidell, La.; grandchildren Andrew and Blake Bryan, of Broaddus, Sydney Oliver, of Onalaska, Austin Poor, Ethan and Conner Oliver, all of Sherwood, Oregon, Levi Whitaker, of Slidell, La.; several step-children and step-grandchildren; sister Helen Meece and husband Duane, of Spring; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Preceded in death by his wife Joan Oliver; and parents Benjamin Harrison and Leila Wallace Oliver. Funeral Services for Mr. John C. CHARLES EDWARD TUCKER
Mr. Charles Edward Tucker, age 85 formerly of Houston County, passed away November 30, 2011. Mr. Tucker was born December 9, 1925 in Dardanelle, Arkansas and was a long time Houston resident. Mr. Tucker was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, became a master carpenter, and retired from Prudential Insurance Company. His hobbies were ranching, fishing and building. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Melba Wardlaw Tucker; sisters Dener Manes and Janie Kendrick; son Charles Lee Tucker and wife Sharon; grandson Dr. Cory Tucker and wife Julie; granddaughter Laura Kraft and husband Wayne; three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; family and many life-long friends who love him very much. Funeral Services for Mr. Charles Edward Tucker were held Monday, December 5, 2011 in the chapel at Forest Park East. Pallbearers were Dr. Cory Tucker, Wayne Kraft, Rex Harlin, Trinidad Rodriguez, Allen Syriac and Jimmy Smith. ELOISE HEARD KNOX
Mrs. Eloise Heard Knox, age 102, of Crockett, passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2011 in the Winfield Healthcare in Crockett. Mrs. Knox was born November 13, 1909 in Ben Wheeler, Texas and had lived all of her lifetime in Crockett. She was co-owner of Knox Furniture with her husband Herman Knox and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Crockett. Survivors include her children Billy Joe Knox and wife Peggy and Florrie Jule Hoskins and husband W. T., all of Crockett; grandchildren Bill Knox, Jr., of Coleman, Bob Knox and wife LaDonna, of New Boston, Terri Knox Hays and husband Mike, of Lipan, Charles Lively and wife Evette, Cindy Lively Pugh and husband Shorty, all of Crockett and Ricky Cliatt and wife Mary, of Keller; great-grandchildren John Lance Pugh and wife Mandy, Heath Pugh, Sawyer Lively, Charles Knox Lively, Hagen Knox, Cooper Hays, Chase Lucas and wife Marcie, Cody Cliatt, Kady Knox, Hayley Knox Worstill, Miach Knox, Ashley Weeks, Brandy Hays Estepp and Toni Cliatt; great-great-grandchildren Kylie Pugh, Shelby Pugh, Brooklyn Weeks, Addison Lucas and Harper Estepp; sister-in-law Martha Heard, of Canton; nieces and nephew Mary Alton, Florrie Belle, Roanne and Jack Heard; numerous other relatives. ROBERT JAMES WILLIAMS
Mr. Robert James Williams, age 68 of Lovelady, passed away, Saturday, November 12, 2011 in the East Texas Medical Center-Crockett. Mr. Williams was born April 2, 1943 in Houston, Texas and had been living in Lovelady. He had worked as a master carpenter and he enjoyed carpentry, hunting and fishing. Survivors include his wife Laetetia Williams, of Lovelady; sons Robert James Williams II and wife Michelle and Carl Edward Williams and wife Ellen, all of Katy; granddaughter Bridget Williams; unborn granddaughter Ashley Renee Williams; brothers Douglas Williams, Ricky Williams and Mike Williams; step-father Lawrence English, of Onalaska; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Preceded in death by his mother Laverne English; and brother Larry Williams. ROBERT ARTHUR EHLERS
Mr. Robert Arthur Ehlers, age 80 of Houston, Texas passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2011. Mr. Ehlers was born September 13, 1931 in Baldwin, New York to Edwin and Helen Ehlers. Mr. Ehlers owned the KOA marina from 1975 to 1980 and developed a large portion of Houston County Lake. He also sold life insurance in Houston County before his retirement. Survivors include his wife Arlene Ehlers; son Stephen Ehlers and wife MaLinda; daughters and sons-in-law Cindy Gamble and husband Richard, Cathy Minchew and husband Dave, Carol Digilio and Tildy Chapman and husband Laim; grandchildren Christopher Ehlers and wife Jennifer, Carla Jurek and husband Carry, Angela Doreck and husband Adam, Michael Gamble, Joshua Minchew and wife Julie, Jason Minchew and wife Jade, Theresa Minchew, Jeremy Minchew, and Vincent Digilio; sister Jane Gamble; six great-grandchildren. BARBARA ROSE REED CONAWAY
Mrs. Barbara Rose Reed Conaway, age 80 of Crockett, passed away Thursday, November 17, 2011 in the East Texas Medical Center-Crockett. Mrs. Conaway was born October 9, 1931 in Chickasha, Oklahoma and was a resident of Crockett for the past 30 years. She was actively involved with the Monroe Crook House and Downes-Aldrich House in Crockett. Mrs. Conaway had been employed by Duo-Fast in Houston and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Crockett. Survivors include her husband C. P. Conaway of Crockett; children Lynna Bond and husband Randy, of Houston, David Fleming and wife Pat, of Cedar Creek, Steve Conaway and wife Wendy, Chuck Conaway, all of Houston; grandchildren Shawna, Crissy, Keith, Kim, Lesa, Kara, Keli, Lloyd, Michael, Dylan, Austin, Jason and Jeremy; 17 great-grandchildren; brother Charles Reed, of Tulsa, Okla.; sisters Wilma Trompler, Melba Heilman and Marilyn Wilson, all of Chickasha, Okla.; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Preceded in death by her sister Betty Davis; and parents David Clinton and Maggie Mae Reed.
