FOUNT NELMS KELLEY
Mr. Fount Nelms Kelley, age 99 of Austin, passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2008 in the Westminster Manor in Austin. Mr. Kelley was born January 2, 1909 in Lovelady, Texas and was a graduate of Crockett High School in 1927. He was a resident of Austin since 1953 and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Austin. Mr. Kelley was retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone where he worked as district manager.  He was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. 

Survivors include his daughters Adele Kelley Stewart and husband Bob, of Denton and Anne Kelley Bottoms and husband Ken, of Mansfield; grandchildren Jennifer Stewart Lemke and husband Robert, of Colleyville, Rob Stewart, of College Station, David Bottoms and wife Tonya, of Waco, Karen Bottoms Cothran and husband Jason, of Abilene; great-grandchildren Emily, Elizabeth, Brylie, Peyton, Cooper and Ella; sister Laura Jean Dauphin, of Grapeland; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Preceded in death by wife of 68 years, Harriet Chase Kelley in 2001; four brothers; and one sister.

Graveside Funeral Services for Mr. Fount Nelms Kelley were held Sunday, January 4, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. in the Evergreen Cemetery in Lovelady.

LEON LUCE
Mr. Leon Luce, age 81 of Grapeland, passed away Thursday, December 25, 2008 in the East Texas Medical Center in Crockett. Mr. Luce was born May 13, 1927 in Latexo to Bart and Mary Sims Luce. He was self-employed painter and had previously worked for Vulcraft. Mr. Luce was a member of the Union Chapel Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Jo Luce, of Grapeland; daughters Myra Musick and husband Barry, of Grapeland, Melba Wortham and husband J.W., of Tyler, Kathy Lumbrerez and husband Daniel, of Grapeland, Barbara Bowman and husband Ken, of Henderson and Debra Rowden and husband John, of Grapeland; son Dean Luce and wife Nola, of Grapeland; brother Arlon Luce, of Grapeland; 18 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents Bart and Mary Sims Luce; sisters Ruby Luce, Loreda Allen and Pauline Kilgore; brothers Barney Luce, Alton Luce and Robert Fowler.

Funeral Services for Mr. Leon Luce were held Monday, December 29, at 1:00 p.m. at Union Chapel Baptist Church with Bro. Roy Bowman and Bro. Gary Luker officiating. Interment followed in McCarty Cemetery.

Pallbearers were his grandsons, Marcus Musick, Eric Wortham, Jason Wortham, Justin Lumbrerez, Nicholas Lumbrerez, Derek Bowman and Jeremy Rowden.

LOUISE ALFORD
Miss Louise Alford, age 77 of Crockett, passed away December 31, 2008 at her residence.  Miss Alford was born September 21, 1931 in Houston County and had lived in Crockett most of her lifetime. She was a graduate of Austonio High School and was a retired bookkeeper. Miss Alford was also a member of the Central Baptist Church. 

Survivors include her sister Mary Mischer, of Houston; niece Paula Mischer, of Houston; nephews Walt Mischer and wife Leila, of Houston, Jerry Alford, of Midlothian, Gary Alford and Kerry Alford, both of Houston; numerous cousins and other relatives.

Preceded in death by her parents Edgar and Lizzie Alford; aunt and uncle Sudie and Dudley Hester; brother Gerald Alford and wife Margie and brother-in-law, Walter Mischer.

Funeral Services for Miss Louise Alford will be held Sunday, January 4, 2009 at 2:30 p.m. in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with the Rev. John Goss officiating. Interment followed in the Creek Cemetery.
