EVELYN JOYCE CHRISTIAN
Mrs. Evelyn Joyce Christian, age 83 of Crockett, passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2008 in the East Texas Medical Center-Crockett. Mrs. Christian was born December 8, 1924 in Kennard, Texas and had lived in Houston County most of her lifetime. Mrs. Christian was retired having worked as a cafeteria supervisor and was a member of the Austonio Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter Marilyn Moore, of Lovelady; sons Charles Wayne “Bubba” Christian and wife Mary, of Liberty, Billy Bob Christian and wife Brenda, of Crockett; grandchildren Kim Langham, of Lovelady, Robert “Clifford” Moore, Steve Moore, of Magnolia, Dana, Debbie, Robin, all of Ind., Chuck Christian and wife, Michele, of Grapeland, Bradley J. Matlock, Jr. and wife Alicia, of Tomball, Amber Martin and husband Justin, of Crockett; 22 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; brothers Clois Millwee and wife Hazel, of Latexo, Tom Millwee and wife Johnnie Belle ,of Porter, Jim “Buck” Millwee and wife Janis, of Quinter, Kan.; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Preceded in death by her husband W. R. Christian; infant daughter Barbara Ann Christian; brother John Millwee; and son-in-law Robert Moore.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Evelyn Joyce Christian were held Saturday, July 12, at 10:00 a. m. in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Ottis Byers officiating. Interment followed in the Boggs Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Austonio Baptist Church.

LAWRENCE CARROLL “SNUFFY” SPINKS
Mr. Lawrence Carroll “Snuffy” Spinks, age 53 of Crockett, passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at this residence. Mr. Spinks was born August 26, 1954 in Crockett, Texas and was a resident of Crockett most of his lifetime. Mr. Spinks had worked for the Texas Electric Company and was a member of the Open Arms Group in Crockett. 
Survivors include his daughter Joe Lee Spinks, of Groveton; son Lance Spinks, of Texas; sisters and brother Joe Ann Blackwell, Lucy Sherrod, both of Crockett, Sally Reid and husband Bobby, of Port O’Connor, Tommie Corbin and husband Bill, of Nacogdoches, Kirby Spinks and wife Linda, of Crockett, Susie Weisinger and husband Jimmy, of Grapeland; 28 nieces and nephews; 48 great-nieces and great-nephews; three great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews; special friend Wilber Melvin of Crockett.
Preceded in death by his parents Joe and Lelia J. Spinks; brothers and sister William Rudd Spinks, Nancy Gilbert and Henry Spinks; brothers-in-law Eddie Blackwell and Allan Sherrod; nephew Roy Crawford; and grandmother, Nettie Hallmark.
Funeral Services for Mr. Lawrence Carroll “Snuffy” Spinks were held Sunday, July 13, at 2:00 p.m. in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Reggie Gregory officiating. Interment followed in the Evergreen Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of choice.

REECE MELL WILSON
Mr. Reece Mell Wilson, age 92, passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2008 in Houston. Mr. Wilson was born September 27, 1915 to Lee and Ruth Wilson in Creath community. Mr. Wilson earned a Master of Education and held various positions with the Channelview Independent School District beginning in 1957 until his retirement.
Survivors include his daughter Mellanie Wilson and David Young; grandchildren Shawna Kennedy and husband Jason, Laura McFalls and Dorian Borowski; great-grandchildren Shawn and Anna Grace Knudsen and Addison Kennedy; and daughter-in-law Sheila Borowski and Hank Weigartz.
Preceded in death by his wife Marjory in 2004; and son Wayne in 1991. 
Funeral Services for Mr. Reece Mell Wilson were held Wednesday, July 9, at 11:00 a.m. in Houston at Old River Terrace United Methodist Church in Channelview with the Rev. Steve Woody officiating. Burial was held in the Cedar Point Cemetery in Creath on Thursday July 10, at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Jim Tom Ainsworth officiating.
Pallbearers were Don Calloway, Don Wilks, Ray Burke, Marlen Halbrooks, Bill Anders, and David Strong.

RICHARD THOMAS RUSSELL SR.
Mr. Richard Thomas Russell, Sr., age 84 of Crockett, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2008 in the East Texas Medical Center-Crockett. Mr. Russell was born May 18, 1924 in Bradford, Pennsylvania and was a resident of Crockett since 2001, formerly living in Houston. Mr. Russell was a veteran of the U. S. Marine Corps having served during World War II and was also a veteran and retired from the U.S. Army having served during the Korean Conflict and was the recipient of the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star with valor citation and the Korean Service Medal. Mr. Russell was a member of the American Legion Post #134 and Crockett Elks Lodge #1729. Mr. Russell was a R. O. T. C. Instructor for 10 years for the Houston Independent School District.
Survivors include his son Dick Russell and wife Marti, of Cypress; daughter Cathy Janak and husband Larry, of Crockett; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grand-children; brother Joseph Russell of Huston; sister Eleanor Koontz, of Ill.; sister-in-law Blanche Russell, of Houston; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Preceded in death by his wife Margaret Russell; parents Robert and Mildred Russell; and brothers John Russell and Bob Russell.
Military Graveside Funeral Services for Mr. Richard Thomas Russell, Sr. will be held Tuesday, July 15, at 12:00 p.m. in the Houston National Cemetery with the Rev. Damon Shook officiating.  Interment will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Post # 134 Share and Care, P. O. Box 724, Crockett, Texas 75835 or the SPCA of Texas, Attn: Development, 2400 Lone Star Drive, Dallas, Texas 75212.

ROBERT LEE RAMSEY
Mr. Robert Lee Ramsey, (the Birdhouse Man), age 84 of North Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2008. Mr. Ramsey was born on September 2, 1923, to John and Maggie Ramsey in Haynes, Arkansas. 
Survivors include his two sisters Lois and Jim Waid, and Esther and Jim Moorman, of Texas; two brothers George and Deanna Ramsey, and Albert and Patsy Ramsey, of the Forrest City, Ark. area; daughter, Judy (Young) and husband Fred Cromwell; three granddaughters, Cherri and Jerry Pitts, Carri Frederick and David Day and Latricia and Tracy DuBose; three greatgrandsons; one great-granddaughter; and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of personal and church friends.
Preceded in death by his parents John and Maggie Ramsey; wife Anne Ramsey; three brothers Johnny, Clyde and Claude Ramsey; and two sisters Willie McGuire and Alice Hatcher.
