Houston County Courier- May 31, 2009 - June 7, 2009

Mr. Alfred Ralph Simms, age 66 of Crockett, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2009 at his residence. Mr. Simms was born March 9, 1943 in Snyder, Oklahoma and had been living in Crockett for the past 13 years. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Simms was a member of the American Legion and was a lifetime member of the D. A. V.  He had worked as a boot and saddle maker. Mr. Simms was a member of Truly God’s Country Cowboy Church.
Survivors include his wife Janice Simms, of Crockett; son Randall Simms and wife Carole, of Mo.; daughter and step-son Robin Simms Lewellyn and husband Jacob David Lewellyn, of IA.; step-children Angel Harnedy and husband Patrick, of San Antonio, Stephanie Beard and husband Randy, of Crockett, John Mark Lewellyn, of Athens and Kristina Martin and husband Nathan, of Magnolia; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; favorite companion Buster; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Preceded in death by his first wife Jayne Simms in April 1993; parents Alfred Ray Simms and Lillian Melton Simms; and granddaughter Miranda Hansen.
Funeral Services for Mr. Alfred Ralph Simms were held Sunday, May 31, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the Truly God’s Country Cowboy Church with the Rev. Gene Kellum officiating. Military Graveside Services followed in the Evergreen Memorial Park.

Mr. Danny Kin Garrett, age 63 of Dallas area, passed away May 22, 2009 in the Plano Presbyterian Hospital. Mr. Garrett was born September 12, 1945 in Raymondville, Texas and had been living in Little Elm, Texas. He was a decorated Vietnam veteran and retired from the United States Army having served from August 20, 1963 until October 31, 1983.
Survivors include his sons Wayne Garrett and wife Merrideth, of The Colony, Jerry Garrett and wife Tammy, of Platteville, Colo. and Jay Garrett and wife Kim, of Flower Mound; grandchildren Kinneth Garrett and wife Chelsea, Evin Garrett, Skylar Garrett, Marissa Garrett, all of The Colony, Brandon Hutchens and wife Elizabeth, of Aurora, Colo., Briana Morris, Phoenix, Ariz., Kiara Garrett of Platteville, Colo., Cole Garrett and Stone Garrett, both of Flower Mound; great-grandchildren Colin Garrett, Mason Garrett, Aubri Garrett, all of The Colony, Haley Hutchens, of Aurora, Colo., Aubriana Branco and Garrett Branco, both of Phoenix, Ariz.; mother Betty Garrett, of Crockett; brothers Jay Garrett and wife Rhonda, of Aurora, Colo. and Johnny Garrett and wife Donna, of Crockett; sister Chari Townsend and husband Steven, of Marble Falls; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Preceded in death by his grandparents Wilby and Gladys Garrett; father Weldon Wetzel Garrett; mother Betty J. Henderson; son Darryl Garrett; and grandson Michael Hutchens.
Funeral Services for Mr. Danny Kin Garrett were held Sunday, May 31, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the Grace Street Church of Christ with Mr. Rick Kelley officiating. Military Graveside followed in the Bynum Cemetery. - Callaway-Allee Funeral Home

Mrs. Jacquelyn Lucretia Goodrum Moszkowicz, age 48 of Houston, entered into eternal sleep Friday, April 17, 2009 a year after having suffered a hemorragie stroke. Mrs. Moszkowicz was born September 17, 1960 in Crockett to Bonnie Craven Goodrum of Pearson Chapel and Johnny G. Goodrum of Weldon.
Survivors include her husband Charles R. Moszkowicz, of Houston; son Chaz J. Moszkowicz, of Houston; mother Bonnie Goodrum, of Houston; mother-in-law Stella Meekes, of Tomball; father-in-law Pete Moszkowicz, of Houston; two sisters-in-law Doris Budnick and Lillian Krolczyk, both of Houston; one brother-in-law Donald Moszkowicz and wife Sue, of Silverdale, Wash.; four special aunts Betty Jacquelyn Jordan and husband J.T., of Pearson Chapel, Jordan, Tinker Broxson and husband Jerry Broxson, of Lovelady, Susie Cusworth, of Houston and Jobeth Goodrum, of The Woodlands; one uncle Bill Goodrum and wife Marcie, of Weldon; three nieces Kendall Henderson, Crystal Budnick, both of Houston and Megan Moszkowicz, of Silverdale, Wash.; two nephews Kristopher and Kasey Krolczyk, both of Houston; one great-nephew Weston Krolezyk, of Houston; numerous cousins whom she loved dearly and some very special friends. 
Preceded in death by her father Johnny Goodrum; two sisters Melinda M. Goodrum and Donna Kay Goodrum; and brother Lesie "Randy" Goodrum.
Memorial Services for Mrs. Jacquelyn Lucretia Goodrum Moszkowicz was held Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at Klein Funeral Home Cyfair N.W.
Mass Memorial was held Tuesday, April 28, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. 

Mr. Robert Louis McKinney, age 65 of the Plain Community, passed away Friday, May 29, 2009 in the Memorial Hospital in Lufkin. Mr. McKinney was born August 18, 1943 in Crockett, Texas and had lived all of his lifetime in Houston County. He was a member of the Lothrop Masonic Lodge #21 A.F. & A.M. and was also a member of the Plain Baptist Church having served as a deacon.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Patricia McKinney, of the Plain Community; daughter Melissa Welch and husband James, of Crockett; granddaughters Jessica Petty and Jamie Welch, both of Crockett; sisters-in-law Virginia Frazier Shackouls, of Coldspring, Linda Windham Frazier, of Kosciusko, Miss. and Reitae and H. F. Chenault, of Memphis, Tenn.; brothers-in-law Freddie and Susan Frazier, of Tyler and Ricky Frazier, of Ashland, Miss.; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Preceded in death by his parents Arthur McKinney and Marie Enos McKinney.
Graveside Funeral Services for Mr. Robert Louis McKinney were held Sunday, May 31, 2009 at 5:00 p.m. in the Conner Cemetery with Don Hobson officiating. 
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Plain Baptist Church.

Mr. Thomas Eric "Two" Ethridge, age 20 of Ratcliff, passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2009 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Mr. Ethridge was born August 1, 1998 to Shirley (Williams) and James Deville Ethridge and resided in Ratcliff most of his life. He had worked in his mother's family restaurant in Kennard for three years. He loved music, talking on the phone and enjoyed playing jokes on his friends and family. Mr. Ethridge was a member of the First Baptist Church in Kennard.
Survivors include his son Austin Lee Ethridge, of Huntington; parents Shirley Blackburn and Jim Ethridge, both of Ratcliff; sisters and brother-in-law Patricia and George Wheeler, of Pearland and Gail Bowman, of Houston; brothers Jay Blackburn and Stevie Ethridge, both of Ratcliff; grandparents Carolyn Williams, of Huntington and Sally and J.T. Furlow, of Shelbyville; aunt and uncle Mary and Larry Hill, of Diboll; numerous of aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by his grandfather John Thomas Williams; and uncle Ricky Ethridge.
Funeral Services for Mr. Thomas Eric "Two" Ethridge were held Friday, June 5, 2009 in the First Baptist Church in Kennard with Brother Grady Gladden and Brother Jim Durham officiating. Interment followed in the Weches Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Greg Burran, Miles Burran, Chase Womack, Lane Womack, Earl Tommes and C.D. Bennett. - Carroway-Claybar, Funeral Home
