ALBERT LEE HAYHURST
Mr. Albert Lee Hayhurst, age 96 of Kerrville, passed away Monday, April 27, 2009 in Alpine Terrace in Kerrville. Mr. Hayhurst was born December 2, 1912 in Van Alstyne, Texas and had been living in Kerrville, previously living in Pasadena for many years. He was retired from Petro Tex Chemical Plant as a maintenance supervisor and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Pasadena.
Survivors include his daughter Suzanne Faught and husband Bill, of Kerrville; grandchildren Shellie Burgess and husband John, of Austin, Becky Powers and husband Ron, of San Angelo, Brenda Hoisager, of Midland and Billy Faught, Jr. and wife Dee, of Coppell; four great-grandchildren; sister Lillie Belle Howe and husband Deahl, of San Antonio; sisters-in-law Dona Sue Curry, of Crockett and Norlene Hayhurst, of Calif.; special friend Jimmy Hammack, of Deer Park; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Preceded in death by his wife of almost 70 years, Grace Curry Hayhurst; parents T. A. and Lillie (Davis) Hayhurst; six brothers; and one sister.
Funeral Services for Mr. Albert Lee Hayhurst were held Friday, May 1, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jim Tom Ainsworth officiating. Interment followed in the Corinth Cemetery.

DENNIS "DOC" STRBAN
Mr. Dennis “Doc” Strban, age 60 of Crockett, passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2009 in the East Texas Medical Center-Crockett. Mr. Strban was born September 23, 1948 in Crockett, Texas and was a resident of Crockett most of his lifetime. He was a diesel mechanic and of the Presbyterian faith.
Survivors include his daughter Laura Strban, of San Antonio; brothers Paul Strban and wife Cindy, of Crockett and Raymond Strbon and wife Barbara, of Lufkin; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Preceded in death by his parents Paul and Vera Strban of Crockett.
Graveside Funeral Services for Mr. Dennis “Doc” Strban were held Friday, May 1, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. in the Evergreen Memorial Park with the Rev. Gene Kellum officiating.

Mrs. Donna Mills, age 53 of Weches, passed away Sunday, April 26, 2009 at her residence. Mrs. Mills was born February 15, 1956 in Pasadena, Texas and had lived in Weches for the past 5 years. She was currently employed with Wal-Mart where she worked as a stocker. Mrs. Mills was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Grapeland.
Survivors include her husband Cecil “Bubba” Mills, Jr., of Weches; son David Hodges and wife Jackie, of Hallsville; daughter Tina Hodges, of Austin; grandchildren Shelbie and Cody, of Lufkin, Brayden and Courtnie, of Hallsville; mother Mary Smith, of Longview; sister Carla Parks and husband Chris, of Longview; father-in-law and mother-in-law Rev. Duane and Alice Mills, of Weches; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Preceded in death by her father James D. Smith.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Donna Mills were held Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the New Hope Baptist Church in Grapeland with the Rev. Duane Mills officiating. Interment followed in the Mills Family Cemetery.

EMILY KREGER
Mrs. Emily Kreger, age 71 of Crockett, passed away Monday, April 27, 2009 at her residence. Mrs. Kreger was born June 19, 1937 in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania and was a resident of Crockett for the past 25 years. She was a member of the Elks Lodge and American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. Kreger was a housewife and a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Crockett.
Survivors include her daughter Gaynell Mary Michelle Williams, of Citra, Fla.; son David Mikel Meier, of Crockett; step-son James C. Kreger III, of Houston; step-daughter Glenda Sue kieberger, of Houston; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother Tommy Poole, of Baycliff; special companion J.A. Foster, of Crockett; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Preceded in death by her husband James C. Kreger; parents Robert and Mary Poole; brothers Bobby Poole and Ricky Poole.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Emily Kreger were held Saturday, May 2, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the Grace Lutheran Church with the Rev. Ron Sandley officiating. Interment followed in the Evergreen Memorial Park.

FRANCES SCOTT DAVIDSON
Mrs. Frances Scott Davidson, age 86 of Crockett, passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2009 in the Houston County Nursing Home. Mrs. Davidson was born August 3, 1922 in Volga, Texas and was the last survivor of her family. She was a resident of Crockett and a very active member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary for many, many years. Mrs. Davidson had also managed the Houston County Senior Citizens Center and attended the North Loop Baptist Church in Crockett.
Survivors include her four children Terry A. Davidson, of Houston, James S. (Jim) Davidson and wife Patricia, of Crockett, Charles L. Davidson and wife Nita, of Spring and Jeanette Melton, of Crockett; nine grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 26 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Preceded in death by her husband Leonard W. Davidson in 1989; two grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and 14 brothers and sisters.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Frances Scott Davidson were held Saturday, May 2, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Dennis Lowery officiating. Interment followed in the Douglas Cemetery.

JULIUS I. LOVING
Mr. Julius I. Loving, age 74 of Kennard, passed away Saturday, April 25, 2009 in the Winfield Nursing Center. Mr. Loving was born January 24, 1935 in Bald Hill, Texas and had resided in the Kennard area since 1961. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict Era. He was a member of the Lothrop Masonic Lodge #21 AF & AM and also of the Scottish Rite. Mr. Loving was a past 4-H leader and a member of the Kennard First Baptist Church. He was a retired electrician and enjoyed photography and playing golf.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years: Nelda Loving, of Kennard; children Eugene Loving and wife Sherry, Laura Loving, all of Kennard, Tanya Loving and fiancé David McDowell, of Shelby, Mo.; grandchildren Heather, Victoria, Kristina, Levi and Mekayla; great-grandchildren Chance and Conner; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Erna Loving, of Broken Arrow, Okla., Clinton Currie and wife Jean, of Woodville, Erma Currie, Annie Walters and Cleabern Currie, all of Kennard; special friends Helen and David Goodson and Diane Currie Smith; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Preceded in death by his parents Jessie and Jane Loving; brother Jessie J. Loving, Jr.; father-in-law and mother-in-law Bee and Ada Currie; sister-in-law Frances Currie; brothers-in-law Carlos Currie and Ralph Walters; and nephew, Allen Currie.
Funeral Services for Mr. Julius I. Loving were held Monday, April 27, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Terry Gibson and the Rev. Jim Durham officiating. Masonic Graveside followed in the Ivie Cemetery.

KAREN BRIDGES
Mrs. Karen Bridges, age 61 of Grapeland, passed away Monday April 27, 2009 in Tyler, Texas. Mrs. Bridges was born July 4, 1947 in Palestine, Texas to George and Thelda Bartee.
She graduated from Grapeland High School in 1965. She was a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Home Economics and Elementary Education. She also earned her Masters of Education in Counseling Psychology. She was a Texas Board Certified Counselor in special education and crisis counseling. She worked in the Field of Education as a Counselor and Teacher for 31 years. Upon retiring from education she began working with the family business, George Bartee Construction Company, Inc.
Mrs. Bridges married Dick Bridges on June 1, 1974. They were married 34 years.
Mrs. Bridges was a charter member of the Grapeland Missionary Baptist Church, and actively participated in the Discovery Club program. She served her community as a member of Grapeland School Board for 6 years. She was also a member of Grapeland Augusta Eastern Star Chapter # 120 and a member of Delta Chi Sorority, a home economic organization. She was loved and admired by many friends for her kind friendship and generous heart. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who continuously gave her love to her large family.
Survivors include her husband Dick Bridges; mother Thelda Bartee; children Greg Bridges, Lindsay Bullock and husband Rodney, Jason Bridges and wife April, and Brandon Bridges and wife Jessica; grandchildren Brian, Kalea, Madison, Ben, Jaycee, Cameron, Bridges and Taylor Watson.
Preceded in death by her father George Bartee.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Karen Bridges were held Thursday, April 30, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. in Grapeland Missionary Baptist Church. Interment followed in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Maydelle, TX.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Gaines, Jimmy Caveness, Bob Jones, Ralph Barnett, Tom Keith, Stanley Skidmore, Tommy Byrd and Carl Kellum.

O. D. BOATMAN
Mr. O. D. Boatman, age 80 of Texas City, was born December 28, 1928 on a farm near Teague, Texas to John Milton Boatman and Josie Newman Boatman, passed away on of Tuesday, April 28, 2009 in the Mainland Medical Center in Texas City.
Mr. Boatman served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1947 through 1967. He retired after 20 years, one month, and three days. He spent time in China, Japan, Korea, Alaska, Panama, South Vietnam and Thailand. He returned to Randolph Air Force Base near San Antonio, Texas to retire. Mr. Boatman earned many citations --too numerous to mention. After retirement, he was employed by Hughes Tool Company, L.D. Brinkman Company and McKenzie Tank Lines.
In 1993, he was promoted to Safety Supervisor for Texas and Louisiana for McKenzie. In 1996, Mr. Boatman retired from McKenzie and moved to Crockett, Texas where he met and married Irene Ball. After living in Crockett for six years, they moved to Texas City, Texas. He was a member of the V.F.W. in Cleburne and the American Quarter Horse Association.
Survivors include his loving wife Irene Helen Ball-Boatman; two sons and two daughters Larry Ray Boatman of Pasadena, Gary Stephen Boatman, of Grapevine, Lorie Ann Lewallen of Joshua, and Rhonda Lynn Young, of Gordon; two step-children Michael Dale Ball and wife Lori, of Texas City and Cynthia Marie McCaulley and husband Gary, of Latexo; brother H. R. Boatman and wife Linda, of Trinity; sister, Josie Lee Farrow, of El Paso.
Mr. Boatman had 19 half-brothers and half-sisters as well as many nieces and nephews. Sometimes O.D. was asked what the initials of his name stood for; but the truth is that because of so many children in the family, by the time he was born, they ran out names and went to initials.
Preceded in death by his son Michael Wayne Boatman; and daughter Frances Wilcene Brisbin.
Graveside Funeral Services for Mr. O. D. Boatman were held Saturday, May 2, 2009 at 4:30 p.m. in the Evergreen Memorial Park with the Rev. Mike Williams officiating.

OLEITA FERRELL SMITH
Mrs. Oleita Ferrell Smith, age 83 of Palestine, passed away Monday, April 20, 2009 in Palestine. Mrs. Smith was born May 4, 1925 in Belott, Texas and was a graduate of Glover High School in 1942. During the war she worked at the Box Factory in Diboll. Then came to Palestine and worked for Palestine Telephone Company for approximately eighteen years. Then in 1965 her husband Merle Smith was transferred to Dallas, at that time she went to work for SWBT Co. There she worked as a service representative for twenty-one years, and retired in 1986.
Survivors include her husband Merle Smith; niece Lydia King and husband George; nephews Leeland Strban and wife Connie, Tommy Warren and wife Ruby and Roy Warren and wife Margaret; and numerous great nephews and nieces.
Preceded in death by her parents Charlie Ferrell and Mattie Queen Ferrell; sisters Clara Modene Ferrell, Sybile Ferrell Warren and Marie Ferrell Strban; two brothers-in-law Frank Warren and Frank Strban; three nephews Billy Frank Warren, Donald R. Warren and Charles E. Strban; and great-niece Penny Warren.
Graveside Services for Mrs. Oleita Ferrell Smith were held Thursday, April 23, 2009 in Palestine City Cemetery with Dr. Daniel Bubach officiating.
Honorary Pallbearers were Les Dietz, George King, Steven King, Roy Warren, Leland Strban, Carl Warren and Chad Strban.

Mrs. Patricia Melton, age 82 of Crockett, passed away Sunday, April 26, 2009 in the East Texas Medical Center-Crockett. Mrs. Melton was born August 20, 1926 in San Angelo, Texas and had lived in Crockett for the past 18 months, previously living in Huntsville. She was retired antique dealer and was a member of the St. Thomas Catholic Church in Huntsville.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years: Mart Melton, Jr., of Crockett; daughter Gail Thomas and husband Wade, of Belott; grandchildren Tiffany Thomas, of Auburn, Ala., Jared Thomas, of Belott, Lauren Menn and husband Tony, of Dallas, Ashley Melton, of Baton Rouge, La.; sisters Ann Scruggs, of Dallas and Linda Harless, of Austin; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

REVEREND JAMES F. MORRISON
Reverend James F. Morrison, age 63, a godly life ended Saturday, April 23, 2009. Reverend Morrison was born August 6, 1945 in Alto, the first child of Martin James York and Hazel Lee Morrison.
During his childhood Reverend Morrison was raised in various Churches in the Alto Community. He was also brought up at Ward Chapel AME, in Houston. Reverend Morrison attended and was ordained at St. James Missionary Baptist Church, in Houston. He was an honorary member of Greater New Hope MBC, in Lacy.
Reverend Morrison Pastored at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Old Washington, Saint Paul MBC in Jacksonville, Saint James MBC in Nacogdoches, Saint Matthers MBC in Nacogdoches, Rising Star MBC in Grapeland, Rose Hill MBC in Groveton and Pennington Chapel Baptist in Grapeland until death.
He was a member of Minister's Alliance, Liaison of Ritter's Lake District Association, Faithful supporter of local little league and public school sports activities.
Reverend Morrison was united in marriage on June 25, 1977 to his loving wife, W. Jean Morrison, and they were blessed with four children.
Survivors include his wife W. Jean Morrison, of Trinity; three sons Juan Pierre Morrison, of Washington DC, Charles D. Smith and wife LaRonica, of Crockett and Martin James Morrison of Trinity; daughter Melva LaJean Morrison, of Trinity; father Martin James York, of Burton, S.C.; grandchildren Quindon J. Smith and Marcus J. Smith; sisters Dorothy Jackson, of Palestine, Louise Mosley, of Jacksonville, Toni Mack, of Tyler and Nettie R. Taylor, of Maywood, Ill.; brothers Anthony Morrison, of Palestine, Earnest Bowens, of Lubbock, Johnny Bowens, Robert Bowens, Alonzo Bowens, Ray Charles Bowens, Don Browning, all of Tyler and Martin James York, Jr., of Indianapolis, Ind.; aunts Willie Mae Wiley, of Kennard, Gracie Gibson, of Trinity and Doris Morrison, of Tyler; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends who will always be in remembrance of his gentle smile and warm heart.
Preceded in death by his mother Hazel Lee Morrison; sisters Gloria Jean Mosely of Jackson, Esteen Shenault of Chicago, Ill.; and grandfather Rev. Hezekiah Morrison.
Funeral Services for Reverend James F. Morrison were held Saturday, May 2, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Chapel AME in Alto with the Rev. Bill Burton, the Rev. Precious Gibson and the Rev. Melvin Smith officiating.
Active Pallbearers were Jeffery Davis, Willie Shepard, Suvella Waller, Ernest Walker, Gus L. Walker, Rev. Donald Jordan, Arthur Punch and Ernest Walker.
