FLORINE GREGG SMITH
Mrs. Florine Gregg Smith, age 90 of Woodville, passed away Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at Dogwood Trails Manor in Woodville. Mrs. Smith was born August 4, 1914 in Weches and had been living in the Woodville area for the past 35 years. Mrs. Smith was a member and past president of the American Business Women’s Association. Mrs. Smith was retired having worked as a financial loan officer and was also a member of the Colmesneil Baptist Church. 
Survivors include her son Mack Smith and wife Peggy, of Warren; grandchildren Shelia Kahla and husband Jack, of Woodville, Mike Philmon and wife Cathy, of Nederland; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brother Earl Porter Gregg, of Grapeland; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Preceded in death by her parents Sam and Virgie Gregg; brothers John A. Gregg and Sam A. Gregg; and sistersMavis Gregg, Lorine Herbert and Betty Lois Gregg.
Graveside Funeral Services for Mrs. Florine Gregg Smith were held Saturday, September 29, at 2:00 p.m. in the Weches Cemetery with Mr. Earl P. Gregg officiating.

FRANCES KENDRICK BARTEE
Mrs. Frances Kendrick Bartee, age 85 of Rosenberg, passed away Wednesday, September 26, 2007, in Rosenberg. Mrs. Bartee was born Frances Alfred on October 4, 1921 in Crockett, Texas to Richard and Elzora Alfred.
Survivors include her son Ranzy Kendrick and wife Joanie, of Liberty Hill; daughter Joyce Loesch and husband, Larry, of Rosenberg; daughter-in-law Jackie Kendrick of Richmond; foster daughter Ruby Spacek and husband Robert, of Richmond; 11 grandchildren; two foster grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; one foster great-grandchild; seven great great grandchildren; sister, Ellena Hamlin, of Lovelady; brother-in-law L.C. Kendrick, of Crockett; sisters-in-law: Marie Alfred, of Elkhart, Edna Alfred, of Jacinto City, Reba Fae Bowdoin and Betty Jo Kendrick, both of Crockett; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents Richard and Elzora Alfred; husband of 47 years, R. C. Kendrick; and husband of three years, Lacy Bartee; son, Roy Kendrick; daughter, Linda Mosier; grandsons Dennis McAnally and Wayne Mosier; brothers Elzie Alfred, Moody Alfred and R. H. Alfred; sisters Alpha Morgan and Effie Moffitt.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Frances Kendrick Bartee were held Saturday, September 29, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, 502 South Fifth St., Richmond, Texas, with Dr. John Lockhart officiating.
Graveside Service were held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday at Shady Grove Cemetery in Crockett.
Pallbearers were Kevin McAnally, Jeff McAnally, Wesley McAnally, Cody Loesch, Christopher Kendrick, Daryl Kendrick, Jeremy Kendrick and Kent Spacek.

FRANKIE IONA STOCKTON
Mrs. Frankie Iona Stockton, age 85 of Latexo, passed away Thursday, September 27, 2007 in the East Texas Medical Center-Crockett. Mrs. Stockton was born December 9, 1921 in Lufkin and she had lived most of her lifetime in Latexo. Mrs. Stockton was a housewife.
Survivors include her children Kenneth Stockton and wife Sue, of Highlands, Harold Stockton and wife Edith, of Latexo, Wesley Stockton, of Elkhart, Helen Tims and husband Bobby, of Weches, William Stockton, of Corsicana and Judy Matthis and husband Sam, of Merryville, La.; grandchildren Aaron Stockton, Alice Bowman, Kim Brasher, Edward Stockton, Margaret Tuggle, Theresa Nelson, Rebecca Clinkscale, Roy Tims, Joseph Harrison, Melissa Stockton, William T. Stockton, Jr., Tim Charanza, John Charanza and Chris Charanza; brother G. W. Smallwood; sisters Mary Masters and Sue Courtney; 34 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Preceded in death by her husband Edward Stockton; grandson Robert Tims; brothers Jack Smallwood, Bomer Smallwood and Alford Smallwood; and sisters Florence Schultz, Lizzie Mae Burns and Dora Middlebrook.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Frankie Iona Stockton were held Sunday, September 30, at 2:00 p.m. in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Dewayne Mills officiating. Interment followed in the Latexo Cemetery.

GEORGE MORRIS BARTEE
   Mr. George Morris Bartee, age 82 of Grapeland, passed away Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at his residence. Mr. Bartee was born December 11, 1924 in Montalba, Texas to Jim Camel and Olivia Hodges Bartee. Mr. Bartee married his wife of 62 years, January 7. 1945. Mr. Bartee attended Elkhart Public Schools.
Mr. Bartee served in the U.S. Navy Construction Battaltion during WWII. Mr. Bartee was a charter member and Deacon of the Grapeland Missionary Baptist Church, Mayor of Grapeland for 19 years, served on the Board of Directors at the First State Bank, Grapeland for over 30 years.
Mr. Bartee served on the school board for Grapeland Independent School District and the Grapeland Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Bartee was instrumental in helping to bring Nucor Vulcraft Corporation to Grapeland and was awarded Houston County Man of the Year for his accomplishments.
Early in his career, he was employed by Geier Jackson Inc. and L.H. Moon Company. An entrepreneur, he later formed his own company George Bartee Construction Company. He has owned and operated this company since 1965 until present, chiefly serving the oilfield and excavation services industries.
Survivors include his wife Thelda Meador Bartee, of Grapeland; daughter Mona Karen Bridges and husband Dick, of Grapeland; granddaughter Lindsay Bridges Bullock and husband Rodney Bullock, Jr.; grandsons Gregory Brian Bridges and wife Shelly, Jason Michael Bridges and wife April, Brandon Ryan Bridges and wife Jessica; five great-grandchildren, Brian, Kalea, Madison, Ben, and Jaycee Bridges.
Preceded in death by his parents Jim Carmel and Olivia Hodges Bartee; brothers Nolan Buchanan, Coy Lee Bartee, and J.C. Bartee.
Funeral Services for Mr. George Morris Bartee, were held Saturday, September 29, at 10:00 a.m. at the Grapeland Missionary Baptist Church with Bro.’s Bob Goodnight, Albert Munsinger, David Keith and Wesley Howard officiating. Interment followed in Pleasant Grove Cemetery near Maydelle. 
Pallbearers were Tom Keith, Bob Jones, Don Hobson, Billy Joe Killion, John Raymond Ross, Jimmy Gaines, Lloyd Dickey, and Walter Cook. Honorary Pallbearers were Joe Billy Burris, Weldon Easley, Lewis Bridges, Dan Walling, Tom Nicol, and George Murray, all employees of George Bartee Construction Company, all employees of Mark-West Pinnacle Company and past Grapeland City Council Members.

LINDA WELCH
Ms. Linda Welch, age 62 of Conroe, formerly of Crockett, passed away Sunday, September 23, 2007 in the Conroe Regional Hospital. Ms. Welch was born August 15, 1945 in Crockett.  Ms. Welch spent many years in England and the Middle East and moved back to Crockett to raise her children close to her family. Ms. Welch moved to Conroe to be with her children and grandchildren. Ms. Welch had worked as a bookkeeper and office manager and also owned a trucking company.  Ms. Welch was devoted to her children and grandchildren and was an inspiration in strength to all who knew her. 
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law Brandi and Todd Daniels, of The Woodlands, Ali and Ken Lezama, of Conroe; son Kerry Welch, of Conroe; grandchildren Tristan Welch, McKennan Lezama, Chase McDow; sisters Nancy Lively and husband Don, of Grapeland, Sandy Duren and husband James, of Crockett; Pam Evans, of Lovelady, Carla Giles of Austin; aunts Katherine Cook, of Crockett, Jean Wilson, of Houston, Irene Welch, of Latexo; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives, special friend Dona Brenner, of Crockett.
Preceded in death by her parents Carl and Betty Rich; and grandparents Lee and Maude Swearingen and Lee and Sally Rich.
Funeral Services for Ms. Linda Welch were held Saturday, September 29, at 10:00 a.m. in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Reggie Gregory officiating. Interment will follow in the Latexo Cemetery.
