Bonnie Luce Williford
LIVINGSTON — Bonnie Jo Johnson Luce Williford, 75, of Goodrich died on March 24, 2009 in Livingston. Funeral services were held Thursday, March 26, in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Tom Owens officiated. She was born Aug. 3, 1933 in El Paso, to parents Vernon A. Johnson and Pricilla McClure. She moved to Polk County in 1952. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harrel Williford; son, Robert Dean Luce and daughter, Carmen Joleen Luce. She attended public schools in Texas, California and Louisiana. After graduating in 1964 from Cleveland School of Vocational Nursing as valedictorian, she worked for Polk County Hospital, the office of Dr. T.L. Gardner and Livingston Convalescent Center for a total of almost 40 years. She was also a longtime member of the Licensed Vocational Nursing Association of Texas, serving as state president from 1980-1982. She served as the president of the Polk County Cancer Society and director of Polk County Red Cross. She also was a longtime member of Goodrich First Baptist Church. She is survived by her children, Medford Dale Luce and wife Denise of Arkansas City, Kan. and Kathie Sweeten and husband Levearl of San Antonio; daughterin- law, Edna Luce of Conroe; adopted daughter, Barbara Rivers of Holiday Lake Estates; sister, Verdean Risinger of Lufkin; her grandchildren, Chad Sweeten, Jennifer Sweeten, Emmitt Sweeten and wife Jessica, Jessie Luce and wife Rhonda, Cheri Hammond and husband Phillip, Tina Pride and husband Brandon, Mindi Clark and husband Steve, Heather Hammond Rash and Jimmy Hammond and wife Mary and great-grandchildren, Katye Shinn, Kendall Washington, Jacob Luce, Lillie Luce, twins Emmitt and Desiree Sweeten, Olivia Pride and Noah Pride, Savanna Rose Luce, Michael Rash, Emily Hammond and Josh Hammond. Serving as pallbearers were Chad Sweeten, Emmitt Sweeten, Steve Clark, Ed Risinger, Billy Risinger, Billy Risinger, Roy Risinger, Patrick Risinger and Jacob Luce. Honorary pallbearers were Jason Risinger, Phillip Hammond, Jessie Luce and Brandon Pride. Jackie Dawn Short
LIVINGSTON — Jackie Dawn Short, 51, of Livingston died on Tuesday, March 24, 2009. A memorial service was held in her honor on Saturday, March 28, in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, with the Rev. David Lee officiating. Mrs. Short was born July 5, 1957 in Baytown, to parents Jack Fredrick and Dolores Williams. She is preceded in death by her father; husband, Bernis Wayne Short Jr.; brothers, Randy Williams and Allen Glenn Chander and grandparents, Millie Williams and L.G. Williams. She is survived her sons, Jeremiah Short of Livingston and James White of Brenham; daughter, Staci White of Livingston; mother, Dolores Lowe of Baytown; sisters, Lisa Pearson of Baytown, Kelly Londa of Baytown, Kimberly Grossheim of Moss Bluff and Tracy Williams of New York; her grandchild, Bernis White of Livingston and numerous nieces and nephews. LIVINGSTON — Graveside services for LuRay Nash, 85, formally of Livingston, were held Sunday, March 29, 2009 at Forest Hills Cemetery. She passed away Friday, March 27, 2009 in Houston. LuRay was born July 28, 1923 in Rusk, to parents, Jasper J. and Lutie McDowell Pryor. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Vernon Nash. She is survived by her son, Sonny Nash of Livingston; daughters, Martha Goettee of Houston and Mary Anne Harmer of Houston; grandchildren, Kelly Nash, Leslie Shomaker, Jennifer Fern, Nancy Sawyer, Becky DeLacruz, Greg Goettee, Gary Paul Goettee, Linda Goettee, Claire Ward and John Harmer IV. Watson Harrison Collins
LIVINGSTON — Funeral services for Watson Harrison Collins, 101, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 30, 2009, at First Baptist Church in Bridge City. Reverends Barry Murchison and Jack Comer will officiate.Graveside services and interment will follow at 3 p.m. Monday at the Holly Grove Cemetery in Livingston. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church in Bridge City. The oldest son of Reverend Richard Monroe Collins and Minilia Ellen Collins, he was born May 12, 1908 in Segno, Polk County. He was reared and lived in the Polk and Liberty County areas until 1994 when he and his wife, Ida Mae Moorman Collins, moved to Bridge City to be near their children.Watson was a Reforester and retired from Kirby Lumber Co. Watson was an ordained deacon for more than 50 years, taught Sunday School and enjoyed singing in church quartets.He enjoyed all music activities for many years in Baptist churches and was currently a member of Circle Drive Baptist Church in Bridge City. Watson took great pride in his children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. He always took time to spend time outdoors, camping, gardening and having conversation with each one to know what they were doing in their lives. Watson was preceded in death by his wife, Ida Mae Collins; parents, Richard Monroe and Minilia Collins; brother, Addie Collins; sister, Lavaler Rhodes; son-in-law, Bobby Starkey and daughter-inlaw, Delores Kennedy. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, D.C. and Bernice Collins of Houston; brother, Mann Collins of Rye. He is also survived by his children and their spouses; Kenneth Kennedy of Dallas, Ellen and Bill Nickum, Betty Starkey, Harold and Teresa Collins, all of Bridge City and Kevin and Carolyn Blanton of Houston. Also surviving are his 10 grandchildren, Angela Haynes, Alyson Smith, John Nickum, Patrick Starkey, Crystal Starkey, Jeffrey Collins, Chris Collins, Don Harp, Melissa Satler and Carolyn Jowell; three step-grandchildren, Judd Simth, Ellick McCann Robert McCann; 20 great-grandchildren, Caleb, Catelynn and Cameron Haynes, Kelsey, Kollin and Kaylea Smith, Coleman, Nate and Abigail Nickum, Mason and Isabel Starkey, Tyler, Jacob, Chloe and Brady Collins, Nolan and Nathan Harp, Makeala and Makenzie Sattler and Cailyn Elmore. LIVINGSTON — Memorial services for Cynthia Leigh Redden, 47, of Livingston, were held Saturday, March 28, 2009 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston with Rev. Cecil Vaden. She is survived by her husband Larry Redden Sr. of Livingston; sons, Ricky and wife Pamela Redden of Livingston, Larry Redden Jr. and wife Tracy of Livingston, and Kevin Redden of Houston; grandchildren, Lacey Redden, Emma Redden, Abby Redden, Ashley Redden, Justin Redden, Cheyenne Redden, Cody Redden, Kevin Redden Jr. and Lauren Redden; father and stepmother, Wilbur and Shirley McBee; sisters, Tammy and husband Bobby Hall, Diana and Allen Carpenter; brother, David and wife Linda McBee; and Deborah and husband Dennis Twardowsk.
