Lester G. Ames
LIVINGSTON -- A Mass of Christian Burial, was held Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007, for Lester G. Ames, 85, of Livingston.
Mr. Ames was born Sept. 5, 1922 in Carbon, Ind. to George W. and Ethel Lawson Ames. Visitation was held Monday evening at Pace Funeral Home. Interment was in Houston National Cemetery.
He was the husband of Mary Ann Ames, father and grandfather of six
children and 10 grandchildren, including Suzanne Ames Schettenhelm and Karl, Andrea Ames Papcun and Mark, Cynthia Ames Burch and Joe, Steven Ames, Denise Ames, Melanie Ames Hanus and Matthew; grandchildren are Matthew, Emily, Philip, Christopher, Kyle, Caitlin, Stephanie, Paula, Kelly and Erin. He is also
survived by three sisters.
Mr. Ames was a decorated World War II veteran and participated in the Battle of the Bulge.

Alymer Clay Hicks
ONALASKA – Funeral services for Alymer Clay Hicks, 90, were held Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007, in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Onalaska, with the Rev. Don Wilkey officiating. Burial followed in Resthaven Cemetery in El Dorado, Ark. on Friday, Dec. 14.
Mr. Hicks died Tuesday, Dec. 11, in Huntsville Memorial Hospital, Huntsville.
He was born June 25, 1917 in Taylor, Ark., the son of J.B. and Lola Houck Hicks. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and three brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Emily Hicks of Onalaska; son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Rebecca Hicks of Onalaska; daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Jack Sharp of Onalaska; grandson and wife, Scott and Joanna Martin of Haughton, La.; great-grandson, Clinton Martin of Haughton, La.; great-granddaughter, Kay Lynn Martin of Haughton, La. and a host of nieces, nephews and church friends.
CORRIGAN – Funeral services for Joann Bell, 66, of Corrigan were held Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007, in the Corrigan Funeral Home Chapel, with Bob Smith officiating. Interment followed in Union Springs Cemetery.
Mrs. Bell was born July 22, 1941 in Malvern, Ark. and died Sunday, Dec. 16, in Houston. She was a housewife and a Methodist by faith. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lawrence Bell and parents, Joe and Josephine Murberger.
Survivors include her son, Lawrence Anthony Bell of Corrigan; daughter, Belinda Kay Ivy of Corrigan; grandchildren, Justin Ivy, Cory Ivy and Laura Almanza, all of Corrigan; sisters, Illona Chu of Richmond and Ellen Leonard of Houston; sisters-in-law, Molly Eaves of Hudson and Edna Glawson of Corrigan and numerous other relatives and friends.
Maurice E. Dawkins
LIVINGSTON – Funeral services for Maurice E. Dawkins, 87, of Onalaska will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, 2007, in the Church of Christ in Onalaska.
Mr. Dawkins was born Feb. 26, 1920 to John E. and Lula Shappley Dawkins in Canaan, Miss. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and worked doing construction. He was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Evelyn Scott Dawkins; second wife, Helen Chenault Dawkins; two brothers and one sister.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Brown Dawkins of Onalaska; three sons, Dennis Dawkins and wife Mary of Cleburne, Larry Dawkins and wife Mary Ellen of Savannah, Ga. and Michael Dawkins and wife Nikkie of Abilene; two daughters, Virginia Campbell of Eadds, Tenn. and Gloria Hyden of Memphis, Tenn.; two stepdaughters, Debra Salathe of Henboldt and Sandra Beavel of Clearlake; two brothers, Eugene Dawkins of Richmond and Elan Dawkins of Saldis, Miss. and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends.
