PEGGY EUGENE PEEBLES EVANS
A Mass of Resurrection for former Trinity County Sheriff Peggy Eugene Peebles Evans, 83, was held Saturday April 4, 2009 at 2:00pm at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Father Tom Edelen officiating. Interment followed in Sumpter Cemetery.
Peggy Peebles Evans was born in Groveton, Texas on November 12, 1925 and entered into eternal rest Wednesday April 1, 2009 in Crockett, Texas
Mrs. Evans was a graduate of Groveton High School class of 1942. She was a graduate of Trinity School of Nursing and she worked as a nurse in the medical profession for many years. After the death of her husband Sheriff Lynn Evans in 1981, Ms. Evans was appointed to replace him. She served as sheriff for the remainder of that year.
During her later years she became a caregiver for her mother and stepfather. Mrs. Evans was a loving mother and grandmother; she was a faithful member of her church.
Pallbearers were Joe Scott Evans, Rush Fitzpatrick Evans, Iverson Grimes Evans, Jr. John Steven Evans, Shawn Ray Blair, Lane Scott Blair, and Paul David Evans, and Larry Wayne Evans.
Mrs. Evans was preceded in death by husband Lynn Scott Evans; son Patrick Evan Evans; father, Eugene Peebles; step father Emmett James; and mother Jimmie Dorman James.
Survivors include her daughter, Lynda Evans Crowson; son-in law Billy Crowson; sons Joe Lynn Evans, William Worth Evans, James Mark Evans and daughter-in-law Elizabeth Coker; grand-children Shawn Ray Blair and wife Rhonda, Lane Scott Blair and wife Susan, Elizabeth Anne Evans, Katherine Marie Evans, Joseph Collin Evans, Taylor Christian Evans, and Avery Lynn Evans; great-grand-children Ashley Carol Blair and Sarah Elizabeth Blair; and numerous other relatives and friends.

ALEXANDER
Cecil Ray Alexander, 76, passed away March 28, 2009. Ray was born on February 1, 1933 in Trinity, Texas to Joe and Mary Sue Alexander.
His father; sons John Alex-ander and Howard Alexander; brother Wiley Alexander; sisters Sue Waggoner and Jorene Legg precede him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou Alexander; son Michael Ray Alexander and wife Wendy; mother Mary Sue Alexander; brothers Jerry and Don and wife Pat; sister Sandra Cole; grandchildren Jeremy, Ellie, Olivia, and Evie Alexander.
Visitation was held on Monday, March 30 at Rosewood Funeral in Humble from 5-8 pm.
Services were held Tuesday, March 31 at Rosewood Humble Chapel at 10:00 a.m. Interment followed at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
