RAYMOND G. REDD
Funeral services for Raymond G. Redd, 55, of the Helmic Community in Apple Springs were held Friday, April 9, 2010 in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Lester McAdams officiating. Interment followed in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Trinity County. Mr. Redd was born June 14, 1954 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Dorothy Nell (Rhodes) and Marion Thomas Redd, and passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2010 after a five-year battle with cancer. Mr. Redd had resided in the Apple Springs area for 33 years and was employed with Trinity County for 16 years. He was an avid outdoorsman, hunter and fisherman, and loved to camp on the river. Mr. Redd attended Lufkin’s First Assembly of God Church. Survivors include his wife, Linda Redd of the Helmic Community; daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and Scott Bailey of Lufkin; granddaughters, Brooke and Madison Bailey, both of Lufkin; brothers and sister-in-law, Lewis Redd, Roy and Kathy Redd, all of Redtown and John Redd of Apple Springs; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. In addition to his parents, his brother, Thomas Ray Redd, preceded Mr. Redd in death. Pallbearers were Jimmy Brown, Travis Forrest, Sherwood Forrest, David Prestidge, John Tullos and Michael Burke. Funeral services for Jimmy Mac Eddington will be Friday April 16, 2010 in the chapel of Klein Funeral Home. Jimmie Mac Eddington, 71, passed away Sunday April 11, 2010. CHARLIE WILDER BAKER
Funeral Service for Charlie Wilder Baker were held Sunday April 11, 2010 at 2:30pm at the Trinity Church of Christ with Dave Collier and Jerry Gardner officiating burial followed in Clapp Cemetery. Mr. Baker was born February 24, 1936 in Trinity and passed away Wednesday April 7, 2010 in Trinity. Charlie attended Trinity High School and then proudly served in the U.S. Army Reserve. He was employed at General Electric from 1965 until he retired in 1993. Charlie passions in life were hunting and fishing. Pallbearers were Joe Haworth, Frank Baker, Bobby Baker, Neal Smith, Rickey Arnold, and Kenneth Franta. Honorary pallbearer was Hamer Dunlap. Parents Joe Wilder and Opal Lorine Baker and a sister Margaret Fay precede him in death. Survivors include his wife of 50 years Joyce Baker of Trinity; his daughter and her spouse Kim and Bob Dudzik of Houston; two granddaughters Mallory and Taylor Franta of Cypress, Texas; two sisters and their spouses Frances and D.L. LENVEL LEE MOSLEY
Funeral services for Lenvel Lee Mosley, 77, of Onalaska, Texas were held Thursday April 15, 2010 at 11:00am at Cochran Funeral Chapel in Onalaska with Rev. Dennis Hodge officiating. Interment followed in Magnolia Cemetery. Pallbearers were Garry Bentley, Allen Weeks, Freddy Weeks, Jerry Milton, Jr., and Ed Lasater. Honorary pallbearers were Terry Bentley and Robert Beasley. Mr. Mosley was born November 21, 1932 in Chireno, Texas to Bob and Amanda Mosley and passed away peacefully at his residence with his family at his side after a courageous battle with cancer Monday April 12, 2010. Mr. Mosley was self-educated and absolutely the best vegetable farmer in Polk County Texas. He would work endless hours to maintain thousands of crops for the harvest. In Houston he was employed for Brown & Root Corporation where he traveled and worked as a fabricator and pipe fitter, he retired in 1977. He worked for Champion Lumber Company and was a logger. He loved to go to the casinos and later he was given the secret of mastering garage sales and he and his wife loved going when they could. He is preceded in death by his parents; grandson Billy L. Tooke; eight sisters; and three brothers. He married the love of his life Velma Elaine Mosley, in June of 1952 and she devoted 58 years of love and care to him. Survivors include his children Robert Mosley and wife Nancy, Danny L. Mosley and wife Debbie, Pam Johnson and husband Glynn, Steve Mosley; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren. ROBERT LEE MONTGOMERY
Mr. Robert Lee Montgomery, age 73 of Ratcliff, passed away Friday, March 5, 2010 in the East Texas Medical Center-Crockett. Mr. Montgomery was born October 7, 1936 in Kennard, Texas and had lived in Ratcliff most of his lifetime. He was a retired veteran of the United States Air Force having served as Staff Master Sergeant. Mr. Montgomery was a member of the Plain Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Survivors include his children Robert Lee Montgomery, Jr., of Houston, Beverley Schaffer and husband Steven, of Belleville, Ill.; grandchildren Sonya LaJean Davis and husband Robert Paul, of Lufkin and Christopher Michael Harper and wife Ashley Lee, of Key Largo, Fla.; great-grandchildren Shane Richard Oehler, of Lufkin, Austin Nicole Schaffer-Harper, Logan Rose Schaffer-Harper and Tanner Ryce Schaffer-Harper; brother Kenneth Montgomery and wife Edwina, of Ratcliff; and sister Donna Montgomery, of Hemphill; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Preceded in death by his wife Bettie Jean (Cutler) Montgomery; and parents Claude Miller Montgomery and Barbara Elizabeth (McKinney) Montgomery. MATTIE CORA HUGHES TROUTMAN
Mrs. Mattie Cora Hughes Troutman, age 84 of Houston, passed away Saturday, March 6, 2010 in the Spring Branch Hospital in Houston. Mrs. Troutman was born March 19, 1925 in Pennington, Texas and had resided in Houston most of her lifetime. She was a homemaker and a member of the Long Point Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband of 64 years, E. C. Troutman, of Houston; daughter Judy Gonzales, of Houston; granddaughter Lori Ann Searcy and husband Frank, of Houston; grandson Casey Anderson and wife Miranca, of Langley, British Columbia; great-grandchildren Delaney Searcy, Cailey Searcy, both of Houston and Kasen Anderson, of Langley, British Columbia ; sisters Allie Arnold, Kitty Magee and Mary D. Holmes and husband Billy B. Sr., all of Pennington; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Mrs. Margie Wise, age 78 of Lovelady, passed away Friday, March 5, 2010 in the Centerville Nursing Home. Mrs. Wise was born December 16, 1931 in Lovelady. She was a homemaker and also a member of the Lovelady Antioch Baptist Church. SHIRLEY ROBERTS
Mrs. Shirley Roberts, age 61 of Midway, passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2010 in Madisonville. Mrs. Roberts was born on October 31, 1948 in Houston, Texas. Mrs. Roberts was on the Board of Regents for St. Joseph Hospital and a councilwoman for the Houston County Co-op. She had been a resident of Madison County for 25 years and was an advocate for the citizens of the county and for the good of all people. She loved and enjoyed her grandchildren daily. She was their “cheerleader” at many events they participated in. She had a great affection for her dogs and all animals. She was known to be a very accurate pistol shooter and was a lady with a great personality and was loved by all she met. Survivors include her son Kenneth Evan Searcy and wife Cheryl, of Centerville; sisters Darla Lexington O’Quinn and Terry Cates, both of Houston; grandchildren Jacqueline Christine Searcy and Kenneth Wayne Searcy, both of Centerville; nieces Michelle Coopwood and Stephanie Phillips, both of Houston; nephew Eric Phillips, of Huntsville; step-father Tom Tadlock, of Midway; half-sister Linda Lewis and husband Rusty, of Bryan. B. CHARLENE HOEVELMAN
Mrs. B. Charlene Hoevelman was born on July 9, 1927 in Lawton, Oklahoma her parents were Clement and Edna Edmonds. She passed away peacefully Thursday March 11, 2010 in Trinity, Texas. Mrs. Hoevelman worked for Lansberry Elementary School and sold Avon for more than 25 years. She was a mother, grandmother and a great grandmother. A daughter Sandra Lee Morris precedes her in death. Survivors include her husband of 42 years Harry Hoevelman; children Patricia Lynn Yates, Vicki Jan Fontenot and husband Gary, L. Mr. Wood was born July 2, 1926 in China Grove, Texas and passed away Monday March 15, 2010 in Groveton, Texas. He was affiliated with First Baptist Church, Groveton, a retired fireman for the City of Houston, member of the VFW, and Veteran of the U. S. Army-Korean War. Preceded in death by his wife Ruby Wood in 2009 and his parents Justin (J. W.) Wood and Ethel Wilson Wood. Survivors include his daughters Deborah Pike of Groveton, Karen Heine of Burton, Pam Valicek of Houston, and Donna Dalton of Katy; sister Floyce Gandy of Fort Worth; and brother Kenneth Wood of Livingston. Mr. Wickham, age 57, of Houston passed away at his residence Thursday March 18, 2010. He was a volunteer and worked in narcotics for the Harris County Sheriff Dept. JAMES WARNER COLBURN
James Warner Colburn, 64, of Trinity, was born in Houston Texas on April 10, 1945 his parents were Hubert and Verna Colburn, Sr. James passed away Thursday March 11, 2010 at his residence in Trinity. In his earlier years James was a commercial fisherman and he worked as a machinist in Houston. ADELHEID ANNA “HEIDI” BEMIS
Funeral service for Adelheid Anna “Heidi” Bemis. 69, were held Sunday March 20, 2010 at Waller-Thornton Funeral home with Father Tom Edelen officiating. Burial followed in Trinity Cedar Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Adelheid known as “Heidi” was born in Miesen-bach, Germany on August 29, 1940 and passed away Tuesday March 16, 2010 in Crockett, Texas. Heidi was a very loving mother of five, she was employed at Westwood Shores Country Club and member of the Red Hats, loved to ride motorcycles and working in her garden and yard, and was an amazing woman that remodeled her own home. Heidi loved her family and they loved her the mostest. She is preceded in death by parents Friedrich and Lydia Kraemer and granddaughter Jessica Leclair. Survivors include her daughters, Pia Havner and husband Kenneth, Mary Quinton and partner Vinson Jones, Wendy Wacker and husband Alan, Heidi Leclair and friend Jeff King and Bonita Merryfield and James Sagent; grandchildren James and Wendy Weatherford, Michelle Flowers, William Quinton, Rachel Carroll and Brad, Amanda Wacker, Brandon Wacker, Jenipher Leclair, Karl-Heinz King, Mia King, Phillup Merryfield and David Merryfield, great grandchild Brenden Flowers; brother Deiter Kraemer and wife Elsbeth; sister; Anneliese Conrad; and numerous other relatives. LESLIE KENT VANZANDT
Graveside services for Leslie Kent VanZandt were held Sunday March 21, 2010 at 2:00pm at Clapp Cemetery with Rev. Randy Lowe officiating. Burial followed. Leslie was born on December 21, 1934 his parents were Kent and Lucy VanZandt. He passed away on March 19, 2010 in Houston, Texas. Leslie worked for the Trinity Saw Mill for many, many years. He proudly served his country in the US Navy. He enjoyed taking care of others when in need and his cats. He had a passion for old cars and enjoyed going to car shows. Leslie was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church. His last words spoken were tell them I loved and get them in church. His wife Allyene VanZandt in 1983; granddaughter Becky Davis; and his parents precede him in death. Survivors include his son Randy VanZandt; cousins Elizabeth Vaugh, Lilas and Milton Cramer, and Linda Street; aunt and uncle Elmer and Lilas Tarr, aunt Edith Klahr; leaving behind his children at heart Brenda and Ben Drone, Johnny and Erma Davis, Jim Paul and Stacy Davis, Cindy and Scott Pocius; and numerous grandchildren. DORIS LEE WITT MULLINS PRATT
A memorial service to honor the life of Doris Lee Witt Mullins Pratt, 93, will be held Saturday April 17, 2010 at 1:30pm in Glenwood Cemetery in Groveton. Mrs. Pratt was born June 16, 1916 to William Madison and Willie Huff Witt and passed away Monday March 15, 2010 after a long illness. She is now in the loving arms of her Lord and Saviour, after peacefully taking her last breath with family in attendance. Mrs. Pratt was preceded in death by her first husband George M. Mullins; second husband James L. Pratt; mother; daddy; and siblings Loy Witt and J. W. Witt. Survivors include her children Forrest Alfred, Robert Lee, Betty Marie, and George William Mullins; fourteen grandchildren; numerous great and great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Pratt was a true Christian lady and loyal friend to many. She worked for the Brooks County School District from the early 1950’s until her retirement in 1981. She started out as a helper and baker, and then worked her way to become the very efficient manager of Falfurrias High School Cafe-teria. She was also a long time member and treasurer of The Church of God on Miller Blvd, in Falfurrias, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Charity of your choice. DEBRHA LOUISE HOLLON McGHEE
Graveside service for Debrha Louise Hollon McGhee was held Monday March 29, 2010 at 2:00pm at Chita Cemetery with Pastor Shane Holeveman officiating. Burial followed. Debrha was born on November 22, 1963 in Pasadena, Texas and passed away Thursday March 25, 2010 in Trinity, Texas at the age of 46. Debrha attended Glenna Park High School. She raised her sons in Pasadena, Texas. She later moved to Trinity, Texas and worked for Trinity ISD in the cafeteria for a term of five years. She then went to work at Shipley’s Donuts. Debrha was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and daughter and a good friend to many. Mother Wanda Jean Powell precedes her in death Survivors include her husband Gregory Loren McGhee sons Mitchell McGhee and Randy McGhee wife Sandra; grand-daughter Kinsley McGhee; father Clifton Hollon and wife Racheal; sister Stormie Ray; brothers Eddie Hollon and wife Jeannie and Michael Hollon and wife Kathy; and numerous other relatives and friends.
