James ‘Jim’ Doyle McCarty
TRINITY – Services for James “Jim” Doyle McCarty, 91, were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17, 2007, in the Waller-Thornton Funeral Home with the Rev. Leroy Brown officiating.
Burial followed in Cedar Grove Cemetery in Trinity.
Mr. McCarty died Friday, Dec. 14, in Huntsville.
He was born May 22, 1916, in Humble and served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. Mr. McCarty was a retired Trinity volunteer fireman and retired in 1975 from the Trinity County Fire Marshall’s position.
Mr. McCarty was a member of the Joe Werner Masonic Lodge #553 and of the Dorcas Wills Memorial Baptist Church. He worked in the Kitrell Oilfield from 1937 to 1993 and was the president of Tri Mac Oil Company and Universal Services.
He also was known as a cow and hay man.
Mr. McCarty was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Ann McCarty; his parents, William James and Bertha Heneritte McCarty; a brother, Robert Wilson McCarty; a sister, Phyllis McCarty Mathews; and a nephew, Billy McCarty.
Survivors include a son and his spouse, Jack and Bertha McCarty; a daughter and her spouse, Melba and Hamer Dunlap; six grandchildren and their spouses, Kenny and Beth Dunlap, Beth and Wendle Vickery, Tamera and Mike Touchstone, Faith and Rod Evans, Melinda McMahan and James and Shonda McCarty; eight great-grandchildren, Olivia McCarty, Isabella McCarty, Adican Reese McMahan, Matthew Dunlap, Sarah McGinn, Cameron Dunlap, Tiffany Tilley and Leslie Vickery; two great-great-grandchildren, Hunter and Hayden; and six nieces and nephews, Rose McCarty, Donelle McCarty, Rod McCarty, Cindy McCasland, Kenny King and Maurice King.
Waller-Thornton Funeral Home of Trinity directed the arrangements.
