HAZEL LEE TURNER
Funeral services for Hazel Lee Turner, 93, were held Wednesday December 19, 2007 at 1:00 pm in the Morrow Chapel at The Settegast Kopf Co. at Sugar Creek with Rev. M. Eugene Vickrey officiating. Interment followed at the Hollywood Cemetery, 3506 North Main.
Hazel was born in Groveton, Texas April 30, 1914 to Bert Lee Turner and Louise Pennington Turner and passed away Sunday December 16, 2007. During the depression of the early nineteen thirties she made her living working cattle on the open range of East Texas. In 1934 she relocated to Houston and soon began a long and fulfilling commitment working with rodeos. She met Mr. Frank Harris of the T-Diamond Ranch Productions and became the rodeo secretary. She worked for Mr. Frank for the next 39 years. Hazel worked for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo beginning in 1957 until 2004 and the Texas Prison Rodeo in Huntsville for over 30 years. She was also a gold card member of the P.R.C.A.
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Lois Turner Holden.
Survivors include her great nieces, Daphne Dudley and Linda Richardson; cousin Betty Grantham; longtime friends Sharon Gonzales and Billy Abbott; and many friends.
