EVELYN HARVELL STEPHENS
   Funeral services for Evelyn Harvell Stephens, 80, of Apple Springs were held Thursday, July 12, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. in the Apple Springs Baptist Church with Brother Bob Beasley officiating. Interment followed in the New Church Cemetery in Trinity County.
   Mrs. Stephens was born December 8, 1926 in the North Cedar Creek Community, Trinity County, Texas, to the late Estelle (Poe) and Henry Madison Harvell, and died Monday, July 9, 2007 in a Lufkin hospital.
    Mrs. Stephens resided in Apple Springs most of her life. She retired from the Hope Center for Youth Boys Camp following 15 years of service as a teacher’s aide. Mrs. Stephens was a former Democratic election judge and former Chairman for Trinity County, Precinct 4. She was a member of the Apple Springs Baptist Church.
    Survivors include her husband of 31 years, W. G. Stephens of Apple Springs; daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Marvin LaRue of Lovelady and Evelina and Johnny Zolman of Huntsville; grandchildren, Amber and Matt Hawkins, Jade Zolman, Lance LaRue and Jared Zolman; great-grandson, Reed Hawkins; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend, Kay Chaline.
   She was preceded in death by her brother, Henry “Son” Harvell; and sisters, Esther Gay, Henrietta “Brownie” Collins, Mary E. “Budge” Richards and Mildred “Sis” Ainsworth.
    Pallbearers were Garner Spring, Richard Spring, Danny Due, Dean Due, Ronnie Tidwell, Matt Hawkins, Charles Placker and Ricky Gay.
   Honorary pallbearers were Jared Zolman and Lance LaRue.
   Memorial contributions may be made to the New Church Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 42, Apple Springs, Texas 75926.

JOSEPH WALL, JR.
    Funeral services for Joseph Wall, Jr. were held on Wednesday July 18, 2007 at 10:00 am with Rev. Everett McCollum officiating. Inter-ment followed in the Hayes Grace Memorial Park in Hitchcock, Texas at 2:00 PM, July 18, 2007.
  Mr. Wall was born December 3, 1929 in Nueces County, Texas and passed away Sunday July 8, 2007 in Conroe, Texas.
   Survivors include his daughters, Marcia and husband Charles Saylor and Debra and husband Karl Buckley; son, Edward Wall; grandchildren, Melissa Wall and fiancé David and Jeanette Blanco; great-grandchildren, Cory, Kris-channa, and Charlsie; and sister, Elizabeth Cook and husband Joe.
   He was preceded in death by parents, Joseph Edward and Ellen Nancy Mathisen Wall; and her sisters, Mary, Evelyn and Ann Marie.

OTTIE SUE LOVE SAFFORD

    Funeral services for Ottie Sue Love Safford were held Monday July 16, 2007 at 11:00 am at Groveton Church of Christ with Lee Brinkman and Neal Kemper officiating. Interment followed in Carmona Cemetery.
   Sue was born on March 23, 1920 in Chillicothe, Texas and passed away Wednesday July 11, 2007 in Lufkin, Texas.
    Sue was a strong Christian woman. She was always giving of herself to help others in need. She loved serving and lending a hand in our local nursing home. Sue was extremely gifted in design and she could coordinate any interior of any home. She was an interior designer for many years and also enjoyed fabricating her own designs for the window treatments. She was a good seamstress. She had a smile that will not be forgotten by all that knew her. Sue was a faithful and devoted member of Groveton Church of Christ. 
  She was preceded in death by her husband Woodrow Wilson Safford; great-grandson, Dane Wilson Safford; and daughter-in-law, Susan Safford.
   Survivors include her sons Gary Wilson Safford and Kim Alan Safford; grandson Glen Wilson Safford and wife Cynthia, Todd William Safford; great-grandsons Wendell Wilson Safford and Colton Dane Safford; brother Bobby Lee Love; and numerous other relatives and friends.
