   Funeral service for Sarah Joanne Pratt Brooks, 85, was held on Wednesday June 4, 2008 at 11:00am at Waller-Thornton Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Loftin officiating. Sarah will be laid to rest in Flat Rock, Michigan.
   Sarah was born in Detroit, Michigan on July 21, 1922 and passed away Sunday June 1, 2008 in Trinity, Texas. She was a homemaker and a wonderful mother.
   Sarah was preceded in death by her parents Edgar and Blanche Pratt; daughter-in-law Melody Murphy; brother Edgar Eugene Pratt; sister Sylvia Marie Hassleman; grandson Walter Eugene Murphy; and great-grandson James Matthew Strnad.
   Survivors include her children Patsy Lance and husband Gene, Daniel Murphy and wife Carolyn, and Kenneth Murphy; seven grandchildren Joanne Marie Horsfall, Jeffery Horsfall, Kathryn Brunelle, Daniel Murphy, Jr., Melissa Strnad, Ann Marie Murphy, and K. C. Murphy; ten great-grand-children; numerous nephews, nieces and other relatives

Funeral service for Thelma Helen Curtindale Slaughter, 89, was held on Saturday June 7, 2008 at 2:00pm at Waller-Thornton Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jim Parrish officiating. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery.
   Mrs. Slaughter was born December 20, 1918 in Rogers City, Michigan and passed away
Wednesday June 4, 2008 at ETMC in Trinity, Texas.
   She was raised in Rogers City and moved to Washington, where in 1945, she met Talmadge C. “Tom” Slaughter. They were united in marriage on December 16, 1946. She was a great asset during their marriage while Tom was in the Air Force, acting in voluntary basis in numerous military bases organizing and chaperoning the Teenage Club at Castle Air Force Base for two years. She was Coordinator of Family Services at Castle Air Force Base at the inception of the program, providing orientation for new families of servicemen; President of the Base Garden Club at Loring Air Force Base in Maine; Block Warden for Base Evacuation in the event of a National Emergency at Loring; Gray Lady for the Red Cross, especially valuable in Louisiana for hurricane warning system volunteering as Nurse’s Aide at the Military Hospital in Lake Charles, LA.; and Director of Family Services at Lake Charles Air Force Base for one year, providing orientation for new families of servicemen.
    Survivors include her husband, Talmadge C. Slaughter; daughter Sally Marie and son-in-law Tim Belew, of Denton, Texas; granddaughter Terry Lynn Morgan Wouters of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; grandson Tommy Leigh Morgan of Coral Springs, Florida; great-grandson Douglas Leigh Martin of Las Vegas, Nevada; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins across America.
  Thelma was a loving and faithful wife of 61 years, which was not nearly enough time.

   A funeral service for Jessie Wayne Roach Meador, 72, was held at 2:00pm Thursday June 5, 2008 at Lakeland Baptist Church; graveside service and interment was held at 11:00am Friday, June 6, 2008 at the Bennett Cemetery in Apple Springs, Texas.
  Mrs. Meador was born April 30, 1936 and passed away Tuesday June 3, 2008.
    Pallbearers were Micah Meador, Zayne Schoppa, Justin Meador, Zachary Schoppa, Matthew Meador, Gerry Wayne Meador, Jr., Matthew Mahony, and Louis Bowman.
    She was preceded in death by her daughter Leah Meador.
   Survivors include her husband Joe C.  Meador; her children Terry Hayne Meador and wife Dawn, Gerry Wayne Meador and wife Rhonda, and Lisa Meador Schoppa and husband   David; grandchildren Arwen Jessica Meador, Miranda Dawn Meador, Micah Hayne Meador, David Zayne Schoppa, Justin Joe Meador, Zachary Joe Schoppa, Matthew John Meador, Gerry Wayne Meador, Jr., Lisa Blair Schoppa-Bowman, and Ariel Jan Meador; great-grandson Justin Kai Meador; and sisters JoAnn Bazar and Karen Sue Anderson.
