Groveton News - June 21, 2009 - June 28, 2009

   Funeral services for Jim Bob Lee, 92, of Groveton were held Saturday June 20, 2009 at 10:00am at Groveton Funeral Home with Bros. Rodney Langley and Ben Rasbeary officiating.  Interment followed in the Bennett Cemetery.
   Mr. Lee was born August 20, 1916 in Josserand, Texas and passed away Wednesday June 17, 2009 in Lufkin, Texas. 
   He was affiliated with the Hwy 94 Church of Christ, a rancher. He was a farmer most of his lifetime; his home was always open to anyone that wished to stop by for a visit or a meal, and a very caring and giving person.  He wasn’t rich by the world’s standard but was rich a million times in blessings. He loved to fish and hunt and loved the outdoors, where he could view God’s creation in nature and spend time in solitude with his creator. He will be missed but has gone to a far greater place.
  He is preceded in death by his wife Ethel Richardson Lee; daughter Edna; parents James (Bud) Lee and Ruth Lee Upchurch.
  Pallbearers were Harvey Terry, Paul Moore, Rick Rasbeary, Craig Parten, Johnathan Horan, and Jordon JaMail.  Honorary pallbearers were Wyatt Moore, Ryan Rasbeary, Colton Parten, and Andy Horan.
  Survivors include sons James Cleat Lee and Clifton “Peewee” Lee; daughters Geneva Terry and husband Hubert, Bessie Moore and husband Douglas, Lean Rasbeary and husband Ben, Linda JaMail and Billie Horan; brother Billy Lee sister Ruthie Hoelewyn; 20 grand-children; twenty two great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.  He also had two sets of five generations in his family.
  Memorials may be made to the Lung or Heart Association or Hospice in the Pines, Lufkin, Texas.

   Graveside service for William Wall “Bill” Stevenson, 84, of Baytown, formerly of Trinity, were held Thursday April 30, 2009 at 2:00pm in Cedar Grove Cemetery with Rev. Rodrick Jay Vincent and Rev. J. P. Granbury officiating.
   Bill was born on September 2, 1924 in Waverly, PA and passed away on April 28, 2009 in Baytown, TX. He served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. 
   His wife Ann Stevenson precedes him in death. 
  Survivors include his son William “Bill” Stevenson, Jr. and wife Theresa O’Brian; daughter Catherine June Vincent and husband Rev. Rodrick Jay Vincent; grandchildren Alicia Vincent, Tracy Sorensen and husband Clint, William W. “Trey” Stevenson and wife Amy, and Amy Tillery and husband Jay; great-grandchildren Cody Blayne Sorensen, Bradley, Shelby, Colby, Braden Ray and Cody Stevenson, Cassidy and Chase Sproat and Jaycee June Tiller and numerous other relative and friends.

   Funeral services for Lucille Bond Bass, 71, was held at 2:00pm Thursday June 4, 2009 at Waller-Thornton Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Myers officiating. Burial followed in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
    Mrs. Bass was born August 31, 1937 and passed away Monday June 1, 2009 in Houston, Texas. She worked as a shipping clerk for a pharmaceutical company in Sugarland for more than twenty years. She moved to Trinity when she retired and was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
  Preceded in death by her son Wendell Bass; siblings Albert, Wilton, Nelda, Shelia, Jerry Gene, and Braunice.
  Survivors include her husband of 51 years Earl Bass; daughters and Son-In-Laws Earline Nickerson and husband Ernie, and Loraine Crutchfield and husband John; grandson Earl Nickerson and wife Shira; great-grandchildren Austin, Katrina, and Marshall; brothers and sister Donald Bond and wife Janelle, Jimmy Bond and wife Loretta, Douglas Bond, Leroy Bond, Clarice Alexander, and Gene Wallace Bond.
