Funeral services for Annie Mae Jones, 86, of Jasper, Texas were held Fridays March 2, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. in the Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home Chapel in Jasper with Brother Winston Tate officiating. Interment followed in the North Baptist Cemetery in Jasper.
Mrs. Jones was born November 2, 1920 and passed away Wednesday February 28, 2007 in Jasper.
She was preceded in death by her parents Lewis and Ollie Byerly; husband Elbert Allen Jones; son Elbert Allen, Jones, Jr.; and sister Zona Williams.
Survivors include her sons James Jones and wife Frances of Jasper, Texas, Brother Lewis Jones and wife Darleen of Groveton, Texas; daughter Willie Mae Jacks of Jasper; sisters Ruby Lee Williams and Vertis Y’Barbo; nine grand-children; and three great-great grandchildren.

GEORGE ALLEN PILLOWS
Funeral services for George Allen Pillows, 78, of Groveton, Texas were held Saturday March 3, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in the Groveton Funeral Home with Brother Lewis Jones officiating. Interment followed in the Bennett Cemetery.
Mr. Pillows was born July 5, 1928 in Colmesneil, Texas and passed away Thursday March 1, 2007 in Lufkin, Texas. He was a retired machinist and a veteran of the US Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents George Lewis and Idell Brown Pillows; and sisters Melva June Pillows and Loraine Pillows.
Survivors include his wife Rose Pillows of Groveton; son and daughter in law Gary and Dinah Redden of New Waverly, Texas; daughter and son in law Diane & Danny Blackburn of Huntsville, Texas; sisters Letha Rasco, Marjorie and Curtis Hildebrandt, Sandra Sepulvado, and Geraldine and Jack Lloyd; brothers Aubrey Pillows, Asa and Dorothy Pillows, Herman and Sue Pillows, James and Flossie Pillows; grandchildren Jessie Redden, Daniel and Holly Blackburn, Deann and J. D. Sailor, Michael Blackburn, Danny Ray and Ginger Blackburn, Brian Blackburn; great grandchildren Lynzie Blackburn, Shane Sailor, Aaron Blackburn and Courtney Blackburn.
Pallbearers were Larry Rasco, Kevin Rasco, Sonny Jack Collins, Max Sepulvado, Scott Pillows, Gary Pillows, James E. Pillows, and Jeffrey Pillows.

ALTON ODELL CANNON
Funeral services for Alton Odell Cannon, 77, were held on Sunday March 4, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Waller-Thornton Funeral Home with Rev. Thurman Cannon officiating. Interment followed in Cedar Grove Cemetery with Military Honors and the Masons Last Burial Rites.
Alton was born on October 25, 1929 in Lovelady, Texas and passed away Saturday March 3, 2007 at the VA Hospital of Houston, Texas.
Alton served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He received a Korean Service Metal with two bronze stars. Alton was owner and operator of Cannons Barber Shop for many, many years. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post # 6899 of Trinity and a very active member of the Joe Werner Masonic Lodge # 553 A. F. & A. M. Alton served as Worshipful Master in 1975 and also has served as Tiler for more than 20 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents Clyde and Laura Cannon; daughter Susan Moore; and grandson Ryan Moore.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years Edith Cannon. daughter Terri Fields husband Gary; grandsons, Bobby A. Fields and Steven A. Fields; brother and sisters Morris Cannon, Margaret Lyons and husband Walter, Syble Vanderpool and Jim Perry, Joy Hinson and husband Billy; and numerous others relatives and friends.

ROBERT K. UNRUH
Funeral services for Robert K. Unruh, 68, were held on Wednesday February 28, 2007 at 2:00 PM at Waller-Thornton Funeral Home. Interment followed in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Ronald was born in DeRidder, Louisiana on July 24, 1938 to James Griffin and Frances Unruh and passed away on February 26, 2007 in Houston, Texas.
He served his country in the US Army during Vietnam War. He received a Good Conduct Medal and an award for a carbine rifle expert as well as a Letter of Commendation.
Ron retired after more than 40 years as a Contract Draftsman in the gas and oil business. Ron enjoyed a good challenge of a crossword puzzle, reading, hunting and having his friends over to watch sports on television. (Ron referred to this as hanging out)
Ron is preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Cody Unruh.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years Becky Miller Unruh; children Diane Unruh, Brian Unruh & wife Juanita; grandchildren, Chris and Sarah Unruh; sister, Vivian Sparks; brothers, Dean, Bob, Bill, Arthur, and Donald Kahn; aunt, Nora Jantz; uncles, Curtis and Wesley Unruh; Miller family mother-in-law, Lola Miller; sister-in-law Roberta Eddings; sister-in-law Winkie Maples & husband Arch; and numerous nephews and nieces and other relatives.

NELDA FAYE SPRINGER
Funeral Services for Nelda Faye Springer, 70, were held on Saturday March 3, 2007 at 10 a.m. at Dorcas Wills Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Burden and Rev. Leroy Brown officiating. Interment followed in Pasadena at Grandview Cemetery, with Rev. Ernest Weedon officiating.
Faye was born February 23, 1937 in Burnsville, Mississippi to Marion Lafayette and Myrtle Elizabeth Formby Holland and passed away Tuesday February 27, 2007 in Trinity, Texas. She was retired from Sears and Roebuck Company after 17 years of employment in the credit department. Faye was a faithful member of Dorcas Wills Memorial Baptist Church since 1995. She was a former member of First Baptist Church of Deer Park. Faye was an active volunteer at Trinity Pine Baptist Encampment of Trinity. She was the mentor in her family in the teaching Gods word and the love and meaning of family.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years Fred Springer, Jr.; daughter Becky Allen and husband Eddie; sons Kenneth Springer and wife, Cindy and Phillip Springer and wife Melanie; grandchildren, Amy Conway and husband Jarrod, Brandi Harris and husband James, Ashley, Lindsey, Elizabeth, Jacob, Ethan, and Adam Springer; great-grandchildren Cheyenne and Savanna; brothers Edwin Holland and wife Joan, and Molton Holland and wife Joyce; and numerous others relatives.
