Graveside services for Ellen Thompson, 84, of Centerville, formerly of Trinity were held Wednesday October 7, 2009 at 10:00am with Rev. William Usher officiating. Interment followed in the Thornton Cemetery.
Ellen was born in Atlanta, Georgia on May 21, 1925 and passed away Monday, October 5, 2009 in Centerville, Texas. Ellen was a mother, grand-mother, and she enjoyed working in her yard everyday. She was a beautiful person and we will be in our hearts forever.
Husband James Louis Thompson and a daughter Mary Ellen Cupit precede her in death.
Survivors include her grand-children Peggy Ivey and husband Mark “Porkchop”, Loretta Sherrill and husband Chuck, Jr., Juanette Henley and husband Jimmy “Buck”, and Danny Cupit, Jr. and wife Susan; great-grandchildren Billy Ivey, Jamie Cupit, Whitley Ivey, Amber Burkhalter, Dustin Burkhalter, Destiny Henley, Taylor Cupit, and Kelbee Cupit; great-great grandchild Jaydon Bailey; step-daughter; Peggy Host; son-in-law Danny Cupit, Sr. and wife Betty; nephew Donnie Love and wife Jean; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Bertha Hildred Cochran, 89, of Apple Springs, Texas was held Saturday October 10, 2009 at 11:00am at Groveton Funeral Home with Bro. Horace Fletcher officiating. Interment followed at Bennett Cemetery.
Mrs. Cochran was born January 12, 1920 in Trinity County, Texas and passed away Thursday October 8, 2009 in Groveton, Texas. She was affiliated with Scrub Creek Baptist Church and was a homemaker.
Pallbearers were Shannon W. Davis, Tyson Davis, Gary Don Harris, Richard Fischer, Christopher Fischer, Jason Fischer, Dennis Cochran, and William Scott Cochran. Honorary pallbearer was Michael Cochran.
Her husband Prentiss Cochran preceded her in death in 1995.
Survivors include her children Ferrell (Reba) Cochran of Gilmer, Texas, Leland (Pat) Cochran of Pollok, Texas, Larry Cochran, Wanda (Billy) Pillows, all of Helmic, Texas, Marilyn (Rayford) Davis of Groveton, Felita (Richard) Fischer of Conroe, Texas; brother Thomas (Dee) Holcombe of Apple Springs; sisters Nelda Mueller of Houston, Grace Brizendine of Helmic, and Jerrie Sue (David) Thrasher of Cline, Texas; fourteen grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Graveside funeral service for Jeanette Renee Sullens Jones, 44, of Lufkin, Texas was held Friday October 16, 2009 at 2:00pm with Bro. Rodger Floyd officiating. Interment followed in the Carlisle Cemetery.
Mrs. Jones was born December 28,1964 in Eureka, California and passed away Tuesday October 13, 2009 in Lufkin, Texas. She was affiliated with the Baptist Church.
Her father Cecil Leroy Sullens precede her in death.
Survivors include her mother Florence Sullens of Lufkin; sister Sandra Brown of Groveton; nieces Amber (Michael) Davis of Mena, Arkansas and Johnna Thompson of Groveton; nephews C. J., Jayden, Keaton , and Ryder; and numerous other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of life service for Joseph Hugh McClure, Jr. was held Saturday, October 24, 2009 at 1:00pm at Waller-Thornton Funeral Home with Pastor Russ Munch officiating.
Mr. McClure was 73 years old when he passed away on October 19, 2009 in Trinity, TX. He was born in Midland, TX on September 18, 1936 his parents were Myrtle Mae and Joseph Hugh McClure, Sr. He received a Bachelors Degree in Engineering from the University of Colorado. He worked for a number of companies as a mechanical engineer. Hugh enjoyed fishing, the beauty of the lake and being outdoors where life was abundantly around him and he loved to listen to music.
His parents precede him in death.
Survivors include his devoted and loving wife of 25 years Mary Ellen McClure; daughter Karen Gordon Keith and husband Kent; son Mike McClure; daughter Donna Farmar and husband Steve; grandchildren Mallory Gordon, Landry Gordon, Ryan Farmar, and Kyle Farmar; sister Jane Baker and husband Dean; brothers Phil McClure and wife Elsbeth, and Charlie Patteson; mother of his children Judy McClure; and many other relative and friends.

ELDRED LANDRUM EDWARDS
Funeral services for Eldred Landrum Edwards were held Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at 10:00am at Restwood Funeral Home with Rev. Sidney Watson officiating. Interment followed at Ryan Chapel Cemetery in Diboll, Texas.
Mrs. Edwards was born the fourth of nine living children to Rosa and Patrick Landrum on January 23, 1912 in Diboll. She made her heavenly transition at the age of 97 on Saturday September 26, 2009 at Woodlake Nursing Center in Clute, Texas, her home for the last three and a half years. Born three months before the sinking of the Titanic, her life was lived to the fullest, having experienced eighteen U. S. Presidents, twenty-three Texas State Governors; saw the U. S. involved in seven major wars, lived through “the Roaring Twenties”, experienced “The Great Depression” of the 30s, survived the eras of two World Wars, and a debilitating disease in the 1970s. Her hobbies included cooking, sewing, serving in the Rebakah Lodge, travel, her church, and family. She will be remembered most by her desire to serve others, which she never relinquished until the last two weeks of her life.
Pallbearers were Vernon Blair, Milton Fenley, Jimmy Don Poe, David Johnston, Mike Johnston, and Casey Johnston. Honorary pallbearers were Harry Blevins and Kevin McEntire.
Mrs. Edwards was preceded in death by her husband Roy Edwards; parents; six sisters; and two brothers.
Survivors include her sons James R. Edwards (Beulah) of Lake Jackson, Texas and Paul D. Edwards of Groveton, Sylvia Edwards; daughters Janice Edwards Johnston (David) of Lake Jackson and Anice Edwards Fenley ((Milton) of West Columbia; eight grand-children; 13 great-grand-children; and four great-great-grandchildren; and a step-granddaughter and her two children.
A special heartfelt thanks goes to Dr. Alkesh Amin for his kind and compassionate care to our mother for the past 15 years. Rush Evans Bergman, age 55, died Wednesday October 21, 2009. A native Houstonian, he spent his career working for several major companies in the oil and gas business sector. For Rush, the love of his family was always first and foremost and he was always there for support. He was passionate about his love of country and the history from which it was built. Rush enjoyed hunting, fishing, and sharing time with his group of “best” friends.
His father Owen Leo Bergman and nephew Ryan Fitzpatrick Kennedy preceded him in death.
Survivors include his loving mother Jeanne McCreary Bergman; sister Holly Kennedy
Crane; brother Owen Clay Bergman; stepmother Janis Bergman nieces and nephews; extended loving family; and many friends. He is loved and will be deeply missed.
Memorial service was at 2:00pm Monday October 26, 2009 at Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Louise Smith, age 83, of Conroe were held Friday, October 23, 2009 at 12:30 p.m. in Cashner Colonial Chapel with Pastor Jay McIntosh of First Baptist Church of Grangerland officiating. Interment followed in Garden Park Cemetery.
Louise was born June 22, 1926 in Sylvester, Texas to Jessie Richard and Ethel Lela King May and passed away on October 20, 2009 in Conroe, Texas.
Her husband Ernie Smith and granddaughter Keslie Smith, both preceded her in death.
Survivors include her daughter Anna Fanestiel of Conroe; sons Richard Smith and wife Mary of Conroe, James Smith and wife Marilyn of Midlothian and Clifford Smith and wife Junell of Magnolia; sisters Ailene Powell of Cypress, and Dorothy Carr of Houston; brother J.R. May of Houston; grandchildren Ricky Smith, Micah Smith, James Smith, Stephanie Tetreault, Jennifer Smith, and Ty Smith; and thirteen great grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.

Funeral services for Joe Smith, 65, of Apple Springs were held Friday, October 30, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Carroway Claybar Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Bill Bailey and Brother Ray Pinner officiating. Interment followed in the Burketown Cemetery in Apple Springs.
Mr. Smith was born June 1, 1944 in Trinity County, Texas to the late Sybil (Fitts) and Earl Smith, and died Tuesday, October 27, 2009 in a local hospital. He was a lifetime resident of Apple Springs and a member of New Hope Baptist Church. Mr. Smith was a heavy machinery operator, and cut hay during the summer months. During the winter he processed deer and hogs to make sausage.
Survivors include his wife Shirley Diann Smith of Apple Springs; daughter Deena Carol Smith Edwards and husband James, Jr. of Pollok; son Gerald Wayne Smith of Anderson Crossing; grandchildren Chris-topher Edwards and wife Heather of Nogalus Prairie, Miranda K. Edwards and Loyd J. Edwards, both of Pollok; great-granddaughters Adriann E. Edwards and Madilynn J. Edwards, both of Nogalus Prairie; step greatgrandson Lane Gholston of Nogalus Prairie; brothers E. C. Smith and wife Becky of Flint and Jim Ed Smith and wife Nancy of Kennard; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents his sisters Linda Kay Smith and Carlean Smith Conner; and brother Nelson Smith preceded Mr. Smith in death.
Pallbearers were Gerald Smith, Richard Tullos, Joel Wood, Randall Smith, Mike Thigpen and Kenneth Holland.

Mrs. Carver was born on May 16, 1924 in Leon County Texas and passes away Wednesday, October 21, 2009 in Crockett, Texas. She was a caregiver, worked in nursing homes, and helped the elderly with daily activities.
She is preceded in death by parents William and Edna Rich; son Ernie B. Davis; daughter Martha Ann Lusk; siblings Glenda, Ima, Nancy, Marie, Junior, Eunice, and Buddy.
Survivors include her children Edna Fails and husband Bobby, Stacy Thornton and wife Martha Ray, David Arnold Thornton, and Sam Roger Thornton and wife Donna; grandchildren Theodore, Jr., Michael, Pam, Stacy, Jr., Polly, Tye, and Miranda, Tracy; great-grandchildren Olivia, Trey, Dayne, Elizabeth, Shane, Scott, Linnie, Anthony, Shelby, Clayton, Myles, Mandi, Brandon, Clay, Ashley, and Theodore, III.; and any other relatives and friends.
