Groveton News- October 12, 2008 - October 26, 2008

A Western Homegoing Celebration for Mollie Ruth Bowman, 57, of  Pennington, Texas were held Wednesday, October 15, 2008 in the Groveton Funeral Home with Bro. Lonnie Valance officiating. Interment followed in the Cedar Grove Cemetery in Trinity.
Mrs. Bowman was born October 13, 1951 in Houston, Texas and passed away Saturday, October 11, 2008 in Crockett, Texas. She was a Pharmacy Tech and was affiliated with the Calvary Temple Assembly of God Church and Texas Phar-maceutical Association.
Pallbearers were Ivan Swindull, Ray Swindull, William Swindull, David Swindull, Neil Swindull, and Justin Filer.
Survivors include her husband James Bowman of Pennington; son James Bowman, Jr. of New Boston; son and daughter in law Jeremy and Morrell Bowman of Grapeland; mother in law Billie Bowman of Palestine; sisters Martha Holliman of Houston and Mary Franklin of Houston; brothers William (Betty Jean) Swindull of Baytown, Thomas Ray (Rebecca) Swindull of Houston, Frances M. (Jo Ann) Swindull of Maryland; grandson Clay Bowman; granddaughter Cheyenne Bowman both of Grapeland; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Groveton Funeral Home

   A celebration service will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2008 for Stephen Kell Vincent, 50, at 2:00pm at Waller-Thornton Funeral Home.
   Steve was born on October 6, 1958 in Groves, Texas.  He passed away at his residence on his birthday at the age of 50, on October 6, 2008 in Bay City, Texas. He was a graduate of Port Neches High School. Steve attended Abilene Christian University. He was a member of Nichols Street Church of Christ. Steve loved to go fishing and hunting. He was employed at TDCJ at the Ramsey III unit.
    He was preceded in death by his father Arthur Chester Vincent.
     Survivors include his mother Joyce Holder and husband Lonnie; uncles and aunts Otis Ed Webb, Linda and Ken Faughn, Leland and Wanda Webb, Alyce Adams, Effie Champagne, Yvonne Newman, Monique Autrey, Cherie Eckert; and many cousins that loved Steve dearly and will miss deeply.
Waller-Thornton Funeral Home

   Myrtle Bennett, born May 29, 1920 in Trinity County, Texas passed away Oct. 11, 2008 in Tomball, TX.  She was a member of 1st Baptist Church in Magnolia where she served in the nursery, she loved her flowers she grew so well, loved to crochet and quilt but above all was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. 
   She is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years J W Bennett. 
    Survivors include her daughter Barbara Bennett; daughter and son-in-law Martha and Roger Gladden; brother and sister-in-law Hilton and Melba Mangum; granddaughters, Cheryl Early and husband Wayne, Carol Killian, Diana Shaw and husband Billy; great grandchildren, Ashley and Matthew Stephens, Heather and Travis Killian, Sarah and Rachel Shaw, numerous other relatives and friends.
   Graveside services were held at 1:00pm Wednesday Oct 15, 2008 at Bennett Cemetery in Apple Springs, Texas. Dr. Ed Seay officiated.
