Funeral services for Marion Cornelius Rogers, 97 years, 11 days of Groveton, Texas were held Wednesday September 12, 2007 at 11:00 am in the Groveton Funeral Home with Carrol Norsworthy and Douglass Lowery officiating. Burial followed in the East Prairie-Possum Walk Cemetery.
M. C. Rogers was born August 30, 1910 in Douglas, Nacogdoches County, Texas to the late Robert Allen and Amanda Drusilla Rogers and died Monday September 10, 2007 in Groveton, Texas.
Mr. Rogers was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Lorene Norsworthy Rogers; son Junior Rogers; sister Nettie Rogers Whitten; brothers Harvie Rogers and Hollis Rogers; grandson David Rogers; granddaughters Sandra Mae and Norma Jean Harrington; great grandson Cody Rogers.
Survivors include brother Rufus Rogers; sister Lillie Antley; sons Ersell Rogers and wife Irene, Robert Rogers and wife Geneva, Norman Rogers and Sue, Herman Rogers and wife Darnell; daughters Emma Womack, Ima Jean Harrington Lowery and husband Jesse, Nelda Hooks and husband Larry; 23 grandchildren; numerous great grand children, great, great grandchildren; relatives and friends.

Graveside funeral services for Betty Lou Rivers 73, of Groveton, Texas were held Monday September 3, 2007 at the Bald Prairie Cemetery with Chaplain Judith Foreman officiating. Interment followed in the Bald Prairie Cemetery.
Mrs. Rivers was born October 24, 1933 in Jennings, Louisiana to Antoinette Glenn and M. J. Stockman and passed away Friday, August 31, 2007 in Houston, Texas. She graduated from Jeff Davis High School in Houston, Texas, was a homemaker and artist, and was a member of Pennington Baptist Church. She married Floyd Charlie Rivers, Jr. May 4, 1951 in Houston, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers; and one sister.
Survivors include daughters Paulette Teel of Austin, Texas, Camille Rivers of Groveton, Texas, Belinda Tousson of Spring Hill, Tenn., and Rebecca Rivers of Trinity, Texas; sons Floyd Rivers, III of Groveton, Texas, Joseph Rivers of West Columbus, Texas, Benjamin Rivers of Groveton, Texas, Mark Rivers of Diboll, Texas, and Daniel Rivers of Booneville, Ark.; sister Nancy Williams of Clute, Texas; twenty-two grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.

MR. LUTERS MARK, SR.
Mr. Luters Mark, Sr., was born September 4, 1904 in Nigton, Texas, one hundred two (102) years ago. Sam and Priscilla Mark could not have imagined that their bouncing baby boy would live over a century! He was a pillar of the "Nigton Community".
Mr. Mark had been joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Clemmie Black in 1931. To this union there were eight children born: Libby Miller, Alice Mitchell, Billie Alford, Eddie and Elmer Mark with two daughters and a son preceding him in death, Troy Gillis, Sammie Jenkins, and Luters Mark, Jr. Mr. Mark was also preceded in death by his wife, Clemmie Mark.
Luters found Christ at an early age. He was the oldest Deacon of Mayo Baptist Church, Nigton, Texas, until his health failed. Mr. Mark was a Christian, loving husband, father and upstanding member of the community. He had an ear for those in need of counsel and, imparted gentle words of wisdom to live by.
Left to cherish his memory his Children: Libby Miller of Diboll, Texas; Alice Mitchell of Nigton, Texas; Billie (James) Alford of Groveton, Texas; Eddie (Barbara) Mark of Germany and Elmer (Loraine) Mark of Nigton, Texas; Sister, Thedious Cloeman of Nigton, Texas; Aunt, Libby Loftin of Houston, Texas; 34 grand-children; 27 great-grand-children; 13 great-great grand-children; and a wealth of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
