A Memorial service for Mary Christene “Tina” Smith, 36, of Groveton, Texas was held Friday August 31, 2007 at 1:00 pm in the Groveton Funeral Home with Bro. Lonnie Valance officiating.
“Tina” was born November 28, 1970 in Corpus Christi, Texas and passed away Tuesday August 28, 2007 in Groveton, Texas. “Tina” was a nurse’s aide and cook. She was preceded in death by her father Gene Smith.
Survivors include her daughter Trisha Smith of Denton, Texas; mother Audrey Caffery of Groveton, Texas; sister Trudy Kennedy of Groveton; brother Eugene Smith of Groveton, Texas; grandparents Mary Lee and Talmadge Wagstaff of Buna, Texas; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Robert Boone Oakley, 75, of Groveton, Texas formerly of Pasadena, Texas were held Sunday, September 2, 2007 at 2:00 pm in the First Baptist Church of Groveton with Bro Lewis Jones officiating. Interment followed in the Glenwood Cemetery.
Robert was born September 3, 1931 in Smithville, Texas and passed away Friday August 31, 2007 in Groveton, Texas.
He was retired, a faithful member of First Baptist Church Groveton, Groveton Lions Club, Groveton Senior Citizens, and Groveton Athletic Booster.
Pallbearers were Archie Warren, Benny McClain, Jimmy Elliott, Clayton Hester, Mack Stephenson, Robert Ables, Doyce Antley, Charles Placker., and Bennie Schovajso. Honorary pallbearers were Robert Burton, Dan Dominey, Alan Spence, Joe Bowers, Norbet Bertran, Buck Sephonic, William Callahan, Joe Britt Lewis, and Billy Carlton.
He is preceded in death by his son James Steven Oakley.
Survivors include his wife Irene Collins Oakley of Groveton, Texas; daughters and sons in law Denise and Winston Whiddon of Weatherford, Texas and Delores and Scott Nevins of Elysian Fields, Texas; sister and brother in law Annie and Herbie Hays of New Braunfels, Texas; grandchildren Rebekah Jo Langley and husband Matt of Tyler, Texas, Aaron Whiddon and wife Kathryn of Weatherford, Texas Haley
