RONALD GLEN “STUBBY” BRISTER
   Funeral services for Ronald Glen “Stubby” Brister of Apple Springs will be held today Thursday September 4, 2008 at 11:00am at Groveton Funeral Home with Bro. Rodger Floyd officiating.  Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.

   Mr. Brister was born December 18, 1953 in Nacog-doches, Texas to Oscar and Doris McDougald Brister and passed away Monday September 1, 2008 in Lufkin, Texas.  He was affiliated with the Trevat Church of Christ, a member of the American Coon Hunter Association, and worked in the Maintenance Department at Citation Corp.

    He was preceded in death by his parents Oscar and Doris McDougald and brother Billy Mac Brister.

    Pallbearers are Rick Harrison, Payton Pate, Brian Perkins, Jose Roules, Kenneth Jones, Larry Turner, Kirk Capps, and Paul Mouton. Honorary pallbearers are Dallas Sanders and Herman Gibson.

   Survivors include his wife Beverly Brister of Apple Springs; sons and daughter in law Glenn and Christi Brister of Apple Springs and Billy Mac Brister of Groveton; grand-children Cody, Jaci, Matthew, and Emily Brister; brothers and sisters Jimmy  Lee (Shirley) Brister of Apple Springs, James Larry (Jean) Brister of Iola, Patsy White (George) of Apple Springs, Scott (Stacy) Brister of Apple springs, Omer (Brenda) of  Apple Springs, Susan (James) Jacobs of New Caney, Michael (Mary Jo) of Groveton, and Bracy (David) Wars of Groveton; eighteen nieces and nephews and numerous other relatives and friends.

   Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.


EMILY MAEDELL MASSEY

   Funeral services for Emily Maedell Massey were held Saturday, August 30, 2008 at 11:00am at River of Life Church with Rev. Mike Loftin officiating. Burial followed in Taylor Cemetery.

   Mrs. Massey was born June 3, 1927 in Trinity, Texas and passed away Wednesday August 27, 2008 in Houston, Texas.

  She is preceded in death by her husband Carl A Massey and four sons Richard, Russell, Gary, and Steven.

  Survivors include her daughter June Dominy and husband Ron;

grandchildren Michael and wife Lisa, Darrel and wife Wendy, Sean and wife Jennifer; great-grandchildren Jonathan, Jen-nifer, Jessica, Kaylee, Tanya, Tiffany, Kirsten, and Taylor; two new babies on the way; brother, Zeekie Dunaway; and numerous other relatives and friends.


DOROTHY MAE ROSS

    A memorial service for Dorothy Mae Ross, 86, was held Thursday August 28, 2008 at 2:00pm at Avalon Place with Rev. Jim Newton officiating.

   Mrs. Ross was born February 18, 1922 in Dallas, Texas to the late Charlie Addison and Ottie Mae Pate and passed away Monday August 25, 2008.

  Dorothy was an Insurance Executive Secretary for more than 50 years, was a resident at Avalon Place, enjoyed playing domino’s with her friends as well as any activities in which she could be involved in, a wonderful Christian woman, and enjoyed reading books and watching television. 

  She is preceded in death by her husband James Ross and son, Richard Lyn Duke.

   Survivors include her granddaughter Dorothy Lyn Travis; grandson, Ricky Joe Duke; great grandchildren Danille Travis and Camren Yeager; sisters, Haddie Lee Wojcik and Clela Fay Garner; brother John Charles Pate; and numerous other relatives and friends.

RAFAEL “RALPH” SERDA
  Mass of Celebration for Rafael “Ralph” Serda was held on September 1, 2008 at 10:00am at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Father Tom Edelen officiating. Burial followed in Cedar Grove Cemetery.

    Mr. Serda was born on November 10, 1930 in Mission, Texas and passed away Saturday August 30, 2008 in Trinity, Texas.

   Mr. Serda was preceded in death by parents Encarnacion and Epifania Cavazos Serda son Able Serda; siblings Amelia Vela and husband Trinidad, Aurora Olivarez and husband Auturo, Eli Silva, Emma Gonzalez, and Reynaldo Serda.

   Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Guadalupe Sanchez Serda; children Maria Teresa Spencer, Maria Thelma Serda, Antonio “Tony Serda and wife Juana, Alejandro “Alex” Serda and wife; and Debbie Irma Dowden and husband Michael; grandchildren Bryan, Michael, Steven, and Brandon Serda; brothers and sisters Alberta Ochoc and husband Osca Lesvia Peralez, Dora Rodriguez & husband Willie Raymundo Serda; and numerous other relatives.
