Little Rebecca Ann Abshere, the three-year-old daughter of Ella Cates and James Abshere died Saturday afternoon, December 8, 2007.  Little Rebecca was born in Cleveland, Texas on December 29, 2007.  She was a very affectionate child with two shining eyes and a beautiful smile.
The family she leaves behind are parents; grandparents, Ruth and Glen Cates, Betty Spurlock, Bobby Spurlock, Walter Emerson; sister, Shelby Leann Abshere; uncles, T.J. Abshere, Dennis Jordan, Billy Heck, James Cates, Jess Cates, Derrick Foster, Jacob McGough, Jammie, Dee Cleveland; aunts, Rachel Evans, Glenda McGough, Jammie Abshere, Brandi Abshere, Amanda Foster, Lori Lane; brothers, Cameron Lee Cates Drissel, Charles Dean Drissel, Jr.; cousins, Shay-Shay, Deann, Kassidy, Cora, Olivia, Madison, Micky, Adrean, Jolynn, Makaylah, Michael, Matthew, Bradly, and Hay-Hay.
Pastor Peggy Sue Wright conducted memorial services held Thursday, December 13, 2007, 4:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel.

Hildegard Philippine Faulkner, we all knew her as “Hilde”, of  Coldspring, Texas, passed away Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at the age of 84 in Shepherd, Texas.  She was born in Furth, Germany on December 8, to Johannes E. and Berta E. Steidtner who preceded her in death along with her husband,  James E. Faulkner; son, Peter Mnich; daughter, Ursula Cabriales; step-daughter, Jodie Ann Burk.
Survivors include her sons, Fritz Faulkner and wife, Leigh Ann, James Jefferson Faulkner; daughters, Barbara Dunaway, Charlotte Pugh, Elizabeth Faiella, Mollie Holiday; grandchildren, Leslie Ann, Bubba, Lacy, Elizabeth, James Robert, and Lauren Faulkner; 12 step-grandchildren, 10 step-great-grandchildren, eight step-great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and other cherished family members and caring friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, December 7, 3:00 p.m., at Coldspring United Methodist Church, Coldspring, Texas.  Pastor Larry Smith conducted the service with interment at Oakwood Cemetery, Coldspring.

Donald Wallace Jones, 82, died Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at his home in Shepherd. He was born August 8, 1925 in Austin, the son of Jesse and Mattie (Cooksey) Jones.
He was preceded in death by his father Jesse Jones; mother Mattie Cooksey Jones; daughter, Phyllis Ann Martin; and son Donald Lee Jones.
He is survived by his wife Phyllis Arine Jones of Shepherd; son, Larry W. Jones of Tyler; grandchildren, Sierra Ann Horvath, Emily Ann Horvath, Camryn Martin, Conner Martin, Laura Jones and Jean E. Sides; brothers, JacK V. Jones of DeRidder, La., Bobby Jones of Cypress; and sister-in-law, Maxine Lee Upton of Houston.
Funeral services were held De-cember 13, 2007 at graveside; Jack V. Jones officiated.  Burial was in the South Park Cemetery in Pearland.
Cochran Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Benjamin Dudley Lundy, Sr. age 78, of Shepherd, Texas, passed away Friday, December 7, 2007.  He was born in Galveston, Texas on October 16, 1929 to Fred Marvin Lundy and Emma Jean Lundy who preceded him in death along with his brothers, Gene, Jack and Fred M. Lundy, Jr.
Survivors include his loving wife, Janie Lundy; daughters, Kathleen Thomas, Dianna Hill; sons, Benjamin D. Lundy, Jr., John D. Lundy, Joseph B. Lundy; grandchildren, John D. Lundy, Jr., John D. Thomas, Rachael Thomas, Joshua Thomas, Alice Lundy, Tabitha Lindy, Ben Hill and Brianne Lundy; great-grandchildren. Trey Lundy, Dillion Lundy, Brandon Lundy, Honey Lundy and Molina Lundy and many other loving family members and caring friends.
Memorial services were held at the Shepherd United Methodist Church, December 10, 2007, 10:00 a.m.
