Lula Capers Currie, wife of the late Eli T. Currie was born December 11, 1917 in Pointblank, Texas to Julius L. Capers and Bertie Adams Capers. She passed from this life on January 28, 2008 in Conroe, Texas.
Mrs. Currie was married to Eli T. Currie for 63 years. Their residence was a wedding gift from her mother, Bertie. She was a lifetime Charter & “Emeritus” member of Center Hill Baptist Church, where she taught Bible study, Sunday school and AWANA’s . Early in life, she rode in a wagon to get to church. She was a member of WMA, where she also served as an officer.

Ann Hoot and husband Delven, Jeanette Allen and husband Keith, Shirley Bennett and her late husband, Gary, grandchildren; Russell Smith, Teresa Smith, Stephanie Voth, Shannon Oliver, Jeff Wilson, Eddie Wilson, Jason Bennett, Jennifer Heath, Delven (Bubba) Hoot, James Eli Bennett, siblings; Mollie Mae Capers Currie, T. L. Capers, Charles Capers, Mary Lou Capers Pridgen, J. M. Capers and Jimmy Capers. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lucille Capers and Clara Capers Nettles, Robert Joe Capers, Mamie Capers Mayer, Pete Capers, and great-great grandson Christopher Wade Wise.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Thursday, January 31, 2008 in the Chapel of Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Center Hill Cemetery, Oakhurst, Texas. The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 pm Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Russell Smith, Jeff Wilson, Eddie Wilson, Jason Bennett, Delven Hoot and Ricky Oliver.

Services for Mrs. Ruby A. (Isaacks) Nicholson, 79, of Carthage, Texas, were held Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at New Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Steven Hill officiating. Interment followed on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2008 at the Wells Family Cemetery in Shepherd, Texas.
Mrs. Nicholson was born October 4, 1928 in Cleveland, Texas. She was the oldest of five children born to the marriage of Arba and Katie Roberts Nicholson. Mrs. Nicholson was a graduate of Conroe High School and was a Native Texan. Ruby married Charles “Nick” Nicholson and together they owned and operated Nicholson’s Meat Market and celebrated 44 years together. She was the “Best Gal in the World.” Mrs. Nicholson was a member of New Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star, Conroe Chapter #710. She loved to cook and over her lifetime collected over 1100 cookbooks. Mrs. Nicholson is preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Charlene Nicholson, brother, A.J. Isaacks, and a sister, Maxine Griffith.
Survivors include her loving husband: Charles N. Nicholson; sons Richard A. Wells and wife Rona, Sidney L. Wells and wife Rhonda, Royce G. Wells and wife Ruby, Leslie L. Wells, Jr.; daughters Waynette DuBose and husband Jimmy, Mary M. Murphy and husband Charles; brother Leo Isaacks and wife Doris; sister Bea Mayberry and husband Vandel; 16 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends.

Charles David Hamilton, 68, of Coldspring, Texas, passed away Friday, January 18, 2008. He was born in Houston, Texas on November 25, 1939 to Atwell and Elvelda Hamilton.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Hamilton and his brothers, Paul Hamilton and Roland William; numerous nieces, nephews and other cherished family members and caring friends.
Funeral services were held at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Coldspring, Texas on Monday, January 21, 2008, 11:00 a.m. with interment at Pace-Stancil Memorial Rest Gardens.
James Roy Nutt, 76, of Cleveland, Texas, passed away Monday, January 21, 1931. He was born in Thorton, Arkansas on September 1, 1931 to Benjamin Franklin and Dora Dean Nutt.

Margie G. Saranthus, 73, of Shepherd, Texas, passed away Monday, January 21, 2008. She was born in Tallassee, Alabama on November 29, 1934 to John Felton and Annie Ruth Nabors who preceded her in death along with her loving husband, J.B. Saranthus.

Frances M. Shrader, age 87, and lifetime resident of Shepherd, Texas, passed away Thursday, January 10, 2008. She was born in Ace, Texas on December 19, 1920 to Peter and Frances Mihelich who preceded her in death along with her loving husband, Louis Sidney Shrader; son, Jerry Earl Shrader; and her brother and sister, Louis Youkmore and Josephine Rose Youkmore Kichler.
