Sgt. Steven Wesley Pitrucha, age 26, of El Paso, Texas, passed away Saturday, June 19, 2010. He was born in Huntsville, Texas on December 31, 1983. He was serving in the U.S. Army at the time of his death in El Paso. S u r - v i v o r s i n c l u d e his wife, Shandy Pitrucha; son, Landon Michael Pitrucha; father, Jerry Pitrucha and wife, Donna of Shepherd, Texas, mother, Donna Lantz of Trinity, Florida; close personal friend, Morjorie Carrillo; sisters, Miranda Benavides, Alicia Benavides, Britané Pitrucha; brothers, Justin Pitrucha, Jerry Pitrucha IV; niece Abigail Benavides; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and other cherished family members and treasured friends. Memorial services were held Saturday, June 26, 2010, 11:00 a.m. at Shepherd United Methodist Church, 71 Spring Ave., Shepherd, Texas. Interment was at Bay Pines National Cemetery, St. Petersburg, Florida.
Elton Edman Thornton, 70, passed away on Sunday, July 11, 2010, in Kingwood, Texas. Elton was born Sunday, March 31, 1940, in Trinity, Texas , to the late Benjamin Langford Thornton and Mabel Lavata Cannon Thornton. Elton was preceded in death by his siblings, James Wesley Thornton, Benjamin Elbert Thornton, Roy Melvin, Thornton and Mabeline LaJauna Mitchell. Elton is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Patsy Ruth Thornton of Shepherd , TX; son, James Martin and wife Natalie of Coldsprings , TX; daughter, Tammy Jordan and husband Clyde of Shepherd , TX; ex daughter-in-law, Sissy Martin. brothers, William Daniel Thornton and wife Betty of Shepherd , TX ; sister, Doris Whisenhunt of Bastrop, TX; grandchildren , Casey Martin and wife Angi, Wrangler Martin, Lacy Martin and wife Kendall, Ty Martin, Melissa Hopson and husband Josh, Daniel Jordan, Brian Jordan, Jerrice Sanderson Jawanna Sanderson. great grandchildren, Haydin Rose Martin, Kellee Mason Hopson, and Frank James Martin. Visitation was held Wednesday, July 14, 2010. Service for Elton was held at Neal Funeral home , Thursday, July 15, 2010 at 10 a.m. Internment followed in the Skains Cemetery in Trinity, Texas. Thurman Cannon officiating. All services were handled under the trusted care of Neal Funeral Home.
Services for J.T. Ellisor will be held Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at 10 a.m. at Pace Stancil Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Pine Valley Cemetery. J.T. Ellisor was born on Sept. 26, 1940 and passed away on July 5, 2010, at Conroe Regional Hospital. He served as a Justice of the Peace in San Jacinto County for 30 years and worked at Anheuser-Busch Brewery in Houston for 35 years. He was involved in and an active supporter of the Punkin-Evergreen Volunteer Fire Department; San Jacinto County youth groups including the Little League, 4- H, Horse Club and the San Jacinto County Fair Association. He was a member of the Pine Valley Baptist Church. J.T. was preceded in death by his wife, Nona Ruth Lilley Ellisor; his brother Oliver Edward Ellisor; sisters Dorothy Gilley and Patsy Decker. Survivors include his sister, Evelyn Neiderhofer; son, Johnny Ellisor, daughter, Rhonda Ellisor Sherman and son-in-law Billy Sherman; grandchildren, Megan and Travis Ellisor and Bradley Sherman; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Robert Leon Brown, age 66 of Shepherd, Texas, passed away Monday, June 28, 2010. He was born in Cleveland, Texas on August 31, 1943 to J a m e s R o b - ert and D e s s i e G w e n - d o l y n B r o w n who preceded him in death along with his brother, Truman Brown; son-in-law, Stanley Shrader; mother-in-law and father-inlaw, Ervin and Katherine Lesser, and his special friend, James Starkey. Survivors include his loving wife, Ervie Jean Brown; daughters, Monica Shrader and husband, Edward, Cheri Mc- Cullough and husband, Jake; grandchildren, Allison Shrader, Justin Shrader, Zachary Freeze, Hallie Freeze; step-grandchildren, Macy McCullough and Cahl McCullough; brothers, Larry Brown and wife, Dona, Ernie Brown and wife, Paula, sisters, Thelma Mooney, Molly Currie, Martha Scalco and husband, Troy; brother-in-law, Garry Lesser and wife, Paula; numerous nieces, nephews, and many other cherished family members and treasured friends throughout the years. Mr. Dalton Currie and Bro. Preston Baker presided over funeral services held at 2 p.m., Thursday, July 1, 2010 at First Baptist Church of Shepherd, Texas. Interment followed at Pace-Stancil Memorial Rest Gardens. Pallbearers included Justin Shrader, Garry Lesser, Tony Freeze, Tommy Douglas, E.J. Bailes, Donnie Marrs, and Zachary Freeze. Lee J. Martin Sr., age 81 of C o l d s p r i n g , T e x a s , p a s s e d away Satu r d a y , June 19, 2 0 1 0 . He was born in Wilmont, Arkansas on May 28, 1929 to Alexander W. and Mary M. Martin who preceded him in death along with his wife, Sandra Martin; and his son, Lee J. “Bubba” Martin Jr. Survivors include his daughters, Murzie Lanise “Sissie” Quinn, Wanda Gayle Cadwallader and husband, Lewis; grandchildren, Zachary Quinn, Mikaela Quinn; brothers, William Martin and wife, Ida Mae, David Martin and wife, Paula; sister, Lener Butler. Visitation was Tuesday, June 22, at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Coldspring, Texas. Bro. Tony Martin presided over funeral services held Wednesday, June 23, 2010, 9 a.m. at Pace- Stancil Chapel, Coldspring, Texas with interment following at Evergreen Cemetery, Evergreen Community. Pallbearers include Brandon Malkowski, Zach Quinn, Lewis Cadwallader, Alan Robison, David Hennessy, and Tony Martin.
Mary Nell Schiwitz - Budd passed away peacefully on Thursday June 24, 2010 in Houston. Funeral services will be held in her honor Wednesday June 30, 2010 at 11 a.m. in the St. Stephens The Martyr Mission in Point Blank with Father Dao Kim Nguyen offi ciating. Visitation will be held Tuesday June 29, 2010 in the Cochran Funeral Home Onalaska Chapel. Rosary will begin at 7 p.m. Mary was born in Victoria to parents Michael Schiwitz and Evelyn Kelly Schiwitz. She married her husband of 19 Cliff Henry Budd on January 3, 1991 in Houston. She is survived by her husband Cliff Budd of Onalaska, son Stephen Budd and wife Mary of Richmond, and her grandchildren Megan Budd, Ashley Budd and Brandon Budd. Serving as pallbearers will be Steve Budd, Ricky Curry, James McNamara, Tom Kocurek, Jack Scheider, Ben Minton, Steve Miori, Marty Zolton, and Joe Oates.
