Doyle H. Barkley, 77, passed away March 6, 2007. He was born in Zavala on February 7, 1930 to Revar and Willard Barkley.

He had served in the U.S. Air Force from 1946 to 1949. After retiring from Automatic Power, Inc., with over 28 years of service, he and his loving wife Marjorie Louise Barkley, relocated from their home in Houston to Point Blank. They were members of Point Blank Community Church for 27 years. Doyle enjoyed living out his retirement in the country. He always enjoyed his cups of coffee while looking out over his garden and flowers being amused by all the birds and squirrels that he fed. His utmost gratification came from helping others whenever he possibly could.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Revar and Willard Barkley; brothers, Fred, Billy and Charles (Butch); sisters Barbara Skillern and Velma Ivy.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 55 years, Marjorie Louise Barkley; daughter Sharon Carter and husband Mike of Point Blank; grandson Randy Wilson and wife Landi of Torrance, Calif.; sisters, Mary Hodges of Va., Jan Davis of Lufkin, Dixie Tucker of Crockett, Bonnie Reppond of Lufkin; and many other relatives.

Funeral services were held March 9, 2007 in the Chapel of Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home. Rev. Jack Bailey officiated with interment in Petree Cemetery near Crabbs Prairie in Walker County.

B.B. Carnes passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2007 in Cleveland. He was born Saturday, May 18, 1935 in Houston, to the late Grady Glen Carnes, Sr. and the late Jewel Constance Jones.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Kimberly Kay Carnes; and brother Quincy Maurice Carnes.

He is survived by daughter, Raye Carnes and fiancé Trey Furrey of Grand Prairie; brother, Grady Glen Carnes, Jr. and wife, Ruby; nephews, Lee Carnes, Tim Carnes and other nephews.

Funeral services were held at Montague Cemetery, March 12. Melvin Hollified officiated.

Neal Funeral Home in Cleveland was in charge of arrangements.

John Thurman McAdams, Sr., 87, of Shepherd, passed away Thursday, March 8, 2007. He was born in Crandall, Tx. on September 28, 1919 to John Henry and Ila Adell McAdams of whom preceded him in death.

He retired from Big Three Industries after 39 years of service. He was commonly known by his fellow workers as “Mousie.”

He was preceded in death by his brothers Louie McAdams, Richard McAdams and Don McAdams; and sister, Kathryn Nickell

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary McAdams; son, John McAdams, Jr.; daughters, LaVerne Teplicek and husband, Mac, and Sally Kirk; grandchildren, Denise and husband Gary, Joyce Ann, Michelle and husband Robert, John, Michael and wife, Susan and Shaw; great-grandchildren, Richard, Desiree, Ashley, Nicole, Lauren, Jessica, Brooke, Eric and Chris; brothers, Kenneth McAdams and wife, Gail, Charles McAdams and wife, Neta, Weldon McAdams and wife, Linda; sister, Loette Loftin, Bonnie Smith, Linda Plant and husband, Gary; many nieces, nephews and other cherished family members and friends.

Funeral services were held March 12, 2007 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Cleveland. Rev. Patty Bergfield officiated with interment at Farley Chapel Cemetery, Shepherd.

Angel Lum, 22, passed away on Wednesday, March 7, 2007 in Cleveland. She was born Tuesday, October 2, 1984 in Houston to Benny R. and Mary Diane Kirkland.

She was preceded in death by her brother Micky Kirkland; sister, Debbie Kirkland and nephew, James Ray Miller.

She is survived by her husband, Bobby Dale Lum; son, Dustin Daniel Lum; parents, Benny and Diane Kirkland; brother, Johnthan Ray Kirkland. She is also survived by her sister’s children whom she raised as her own, Krystal Diane Miller, Robert James Miller, Brittany Alene Miller; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the Neal Funeral Home Chapel, March 10, 2007. Bro. Howard and Bro. Hogan officiated with interment in the Lum Memorial Gardens.

Services here handled under the care of Neal Funeral Home in Cleveland.

Amy Moody Smith, born March 29, 1926 in the Magnolia community in San Jacinto County, died March 1, 2007, in Conroe

Graveside services were held Saturday, March 3, at Magnolia Cemetery in Evergreen, with Bro. Chester Burt, Bro. Hugh Bradley and Bro. Dennis Anderson officiating.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Nettie Moody; husband, Walter Warren Smith; infant granddaughter, Heather Ruchelle Smith; and infant great-grandson, Christopher Wade Wise.

Survivors include her sister, M.T. Thomas and husband David of Baytown; twin sister, Mamie Lewis of Baytown; sons, Jimmie Ray and wife, Teresa of Cleveland and Shelby Darren and wife Donna of Cleveland; grandsons, Trevor Wade Smith and wife Connie of Spring and Kevin Todd Pegoda of Humble; granddaughters, Wendy Ruchelle Miller and husband Jeremy of South St. Paul, Minn. and Leslie Anne Pegoda of Cleveland; great-granddaughter, Sydney Alexis Saganek and great-grandchildren Baby Pegoda, to be born May 7, and Baby Miller, to be born July 7; honorary grandchildren, Phillip Johnson and wife Trista, Michael Koronka and wife Loni, Daniel Love and wife Ashley and Joshua Walker and wife, Brandy; and honorary great-grandchildren, Terry Johnston, Mikael Lynn and Cameron Koronka, Kellijo and Hannah Love and Alexis and Zachary Walker.

Cochran Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Jo Ann Spears, 48, passed away on Sunday, March 4, 2007 at her home in Romayor. She was born July 14, 1958 in Conroe to the late Junior Spears and the late Ruth Spears.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father; brothers, Randolph Spears Sr. and Curtis Ray Spears.

She is survived by companion and friend, Elmer Benard Wetch; children, Jimmy Ray McGough, Elmer John Wetch and Doris Shantell Wetch, Bruce D. Barker and wife Brandi Gale Barker, Amber Elizabeth Barker; brothers, Earl Ray Spears, Howard Lee Spears, Sidney Curtis Spears; sisters, Martha Ann McGough, Dora Lee Horton; grandchildren, Kaine Ray Lee Livanic, Taylor Ray McGough, Madison Lily Barker, Hailey Faye Jasso, Makayla Rayne Markham, Zoe Gale Markham; and numerous relative and friends.

Funeral services were held at the Neal Funeral Home Chapel, March 12, 2007. Bro. Melvin Holifield officiated. Interment followed in the Plum Grove Cemetery.

Services were handled under the care of Neal Funeral Home of Cleveland.
