Clell L. Benton Sr.
TRINITY – Services for Clell L. Benton Sr., 78, of Pennington were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2007, at the Groveton Funeral Home with Bro. Ronald Dart officiating.
Burial followed in the Mount Zion Cemetery.
Mr. Benton died Sunday, July 22, in Lufkin.
He was born April 7, 1929, in Trinity County and was retired from both the Trinity County road and bridge department and from Rohm and Haas. He was a member of the Tyler Church of God.
Survivors include two sons, Clell Benton Jr. and Mark Benton, both of Alto; four daughters and a son-in-law, Linda Benton of Tyler, Sharron Travis of Nacogdoches, Rachel Browning of Hattiesburg, Miss., and Kim and Charles Conway of Nacogdoches; a brother, Weston Benton of Deer Park; 19 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Grandsons served as pallbearers.
Groveton Funeral Home directed the arrangements.

Bernice Sullivan Luera
GROVETON – Graveside services for Bernice Sullivan Luera, 90, of Houston were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 21, 2007, in the Bennett Cemetery with Bro. Lester McAdams officiating.
Mrs. Luera died Tuesday, July 17, in Houston.
She was born Sept. 1, 1918, in Trinity County and was employed as a waitress. She was a member of the Baptist faith.
Mrs. Luera was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Temple Sullivan and Holly Hannah Sullivan Barton; and four siblings, Josie Sullivan, George Barton, Dudley Barton and Ben Barton.
Survivors include a daughter, Dalores Leigh Willett; two sisters, Tee Adler of Groveton and Marie Welch of Tyler; a sister-in-law, Doris Barton of Crockett; a granddaughter, Lee Ann Willett; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Groveton Funeral Home directed the arrangements.

Ottie Sue Love Safford
TRINITY – Services for Ottie Sue Love Safford, 87, were held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 16, 2007, in the Groveton Church of Christ with Lee Brinkman and Neal Kemper officiating.
Burial followed in the Carmona Cemetery.
Mrs. Safford died Wednesday, July 11, in Lufkin.
She was born March 23, 1920, in Chillicothe and was employed as an interior designer for a number of years. She enjoyed fabricating her own designs for window treatments and was known as a good seamstress. Mrs. Safford also was known as a strong Christian woman who enjoyed serving in the local nursing home.
She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Mrs. Safford was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Wilson Safford, a daughter-in-law, Susan Safford; and a great-grandson, Dane Wilson Safford.
Survivors include two sons, Gary Wilson Safford and Kim Alan Safford; a brother, Bobby Lee Love; two grandsons and a spouse, Glen Wilson and Cynthia Safford and Todd William Safford; two great-grandsons, Wendell Wilson Safford and Colton Dane Safford; and a number of other relatives.
Waller-Thornton Funeral Home of Trinity directed the arrangements.

Joseph Wall Jr.
TRINITY – Graveside services for Joseph Wall Jr., 77, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2007, in Hayes Grace Memorial Park in Hitchcock.
Mr. Wall died Sunday, July 8, in Conroe.
He was born Dec. 3, 1929, in Nueces County and was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Edward and Ellen Nancy Mathisen Wall; and three sisters, Mary, Evelyn and Ann Marie.
Survivors include two daughters and their spouses, Marcia and Charles Saylor and Debra and Karl Buckley; a son, Edward Wall; a sister and her spouse, Elizabeth and Joe Cook; two grandchildren, Melissa Wall and her fiancé David, and Jeanette Blanco; and three great-grandchildren, Cory, Krischanna and Charlsie.
