Shepherd Chamber hears about long term recovery programs

SHEPHERD -- The Shepherd Chamber of Commerce welcomed guest speaker, Linda Flores, Outreach Coordinator for DETCOG, to their regular montly meeting. She presented a pilot project that focuses specifi cally on long-term recovery disaster case management for households in the Deep East Texas region, including fi ve additional counties to the north that have been impacted by the effects of Hurricane Ike. Counties served are Angelina, Harrison, Nacogdoches, Rusk, San Jacinto, Trinity, Cherokee, Houston, Newton, Sabine, Shelby, Tyler, Gregg, Jasper, Polk,San Augustine and Smith. This program has picked up at least 75 more families that needed help since January. There could be more.
