Man shot multiple times dies of wounds

COLDSPRING – San Jacinto County Deputies are investigating the death of a county man who was shot March 20. Dead is 47-year-old William Volker who had been shot multiple times at a residence on Magnolia Road, off Hwy. 105 in San Jacinto County. Arrested is Stacy Pemberton, age 41, who remained on the scene until offi cers arrived. The suspect was detained for questioning and later transported to the county jail, according to the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Department. In a separate incident, San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Deputy Lucas responded to a discharge of fi rearms report on Richards Street in Shepherd on March 26 at about 8:30 p.m. Arriving on the scene, Lucas found three individuals in the front yard. “The first suspect, later identified as Ronald Owen, 48, became belligerent and started yelling,” Lucas said. Owen retreated into his residence and fired one time in the direction of Deputy Lucas who was able to take cover behind his patrol vehicle. Backup officers arrived within minutes and were able to assist Lucas in taking Owens into custody after a brief struggle. Owen has been charged with aggravated assault – public servant, possession of a prohibited weapon and resisting arrest. Kyle White has been charged with resisting arrest in the incident.
