Chicken bandit hits Brookshire’s deli

COLDSPRING – San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Deputies are searching for a suspect who ordered chicken at Coldspring Brookshire Brother’s Deli and ran away on foot with the chicken and about $215 in cash Saturday about 5:38 p.m. According to Deputy Jack Lacy, the suspect entered the deli area of the grocery store and asked for a two-piece chicken meal. “When the clerk put down the meal the suspect laid a shirt on the counter with what appeared to be a gun inside and demanded that money be put in the chicken bag,” Deputy Lacy said. The suspect fl ed the store and ran into the woods, being chased by several employees. Deputy Lacy was able to recover the deli bag in the wood line but the money was not recovered. Several law enforcement agencies responded to the scene, including Department of Public Safety Troopers and Texas Game Wardens to assist in the search but the suspect was not located, Lacy said. Witnesses described the suspect as a white male, mid-20’s, about six feet tall with wavy dark hair and wearing a black shirt and black pants.
