Area church takes the lead in Christmas toy drive
San Jacinto News- Times - December 2008
COLDSPRING -- Due to the recent gap left in the children’s Christmas toy drive, Calvary Baptist Church feels privileged to have the opportunity to host and support this long running community effort this year. The church phone will be manned during the day and a voice recorder will be on for messages any other time. Anyone who knows a need or is willing to make a donation of new, unwrapped toys can call 936- 653-3961. Financial donations will be designated to the toy program. Pastor Mike Minter, in agreeing to accept the responsibility and put forth the effort said, “Many will be with family sharing food, fun and exchanging gifts celebrating this season honoring our Lord’s birth. If we are not careful, we can have so much fun that we become neglectful, not noticing those around us. There are children less fortunate than we in our community that need someone to touch their lives with a whole lot of love and hope.” A purple barrel will be on the church step as an anonymous drive through drop off point for both names of recipients and for donations. The church is located at 65 Petroleum Road, Coldspring, right across from Premier Tire. Please join in this community effort to bring a little joy to the lives of those less fortunate this holiday season.
