Information sought on hit and run that killed Shepherd resident

SHEPHERD – A hit and run accident that killed a Shepherd resident is being investigated by the Texas Department of Public Safety. Horace Pace, 54, of Shepherd, was killed instantly when he was struck on Hwy. 59 near the intersection of FM 1127 by an 18-wheel vehicle or a very large truck, according to DPS Corporal Cain. There were no witnesses to the accident which occurred around 4:35 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15, Cain said. “No skid marks were made so it’s possible if he was hit by an 18-wheeler the driver never knew he hit anyone,” Cain said. “Although Pace lived off FM 1127, he had a bag of clothes with him and his medication,” Cain said.
