San Jacinto News- Times - December 2009

SHEPHERD – The San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the disappearance of two children reported missing from Shepherd, according to San Jacinto County Sheriff James Walters. Walters said Maria Garcia reported that she had taken the 13 and 14-year-olds to a restaurant in Shepherd where they were picked up by a Hispanic male on Nov. 23, around 5 p.m. At about 6:30 p.m. the sheriff’s department was able to recover the 13-year-old Hispanic female who was found walking on the roadway. “We later found that the Hispanic male, identifi ed as Joaquin Garcia, 18, had stated that he was taking the 14-year-old missing juvenile, Angela Rodriquez to Mexico,” Walters said. “At that point Detective K. Wick contacted the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and requested an Amber Alert be placed for Angela Rodriquez,” Walters said. As of Monday, Nov. 30, the search continues for Joaquin Garcia and Angela Rodriquez, according to Walters who added, “There is a warrant out for Joaquin Garcia’s arrest.” Angela Rodriguez is identifi ed as being 5’1” tall and weighing about 150 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing gray Capri pants and blue and white Jordan sneakers. Garcia was last seen driving a 1999 four door Chevy Malibu that is blue and green in color with Texas license plate number LHF-502.
