King charged with sexual assault; Hamby charged with burglary

COLDSPRING – A San Jacinto County man was arrested last Thursday by the Texas Attorney General’s Offi ce Sex Offender Task Force at his residence. Kyle King, 26, of Fostoria Tram Road has been charged with aggravated sexual assault of a fi ve-year-old female from an incident that was reported to the sheriff’s department in November of this year, according to San Jacinto County Sheriff James Walters. “Detective Wick of the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Department has been working on the case and was able to have the arrest warrant signed,” Walters said. “Sgt. Blum of the State Sex Offender Task Force gathered intelligence on the suspect for several days until the arrest could be made,” Walters said. King is charged with a fi rst degree felony which carries up to 99 years in prison if convicted. Bond is set at $75,000. In other cases, the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Department arrested Carl Hamby, of Coldspring, on Nov. 26 for the burglary of a residence in Cape Royale that occurred Nov. 24. The suspect violated a protective order and also took several items from the residence, including jewelry, tools and miscellaneous items, according to the sheriff’s report. Hamby has been charged with engaging in organized criminal activity – theft and warrants are pending on two other suspects, Sheriff Walters said.
