County Republicans name new chairman

COLDSPRING – The San Jacinto County Republican Executive Committee has elected a new Republican County Chairman. Todd Pegoda was nominated and elected unanimously by the voting members of the executive board. Pegoda was born in Huntsville in 1981. He has been a resident of San Jacinto County his entire lie, He resided in the Point Blank area with his parents next to hid grandfather’s business, Smith Machine Works Inc., until 1993 when his family relocated to the Evergreen area. He is a 1999 graduate of Coldspring- Oakhurst High School and is currently employed in the aircraft maintenance department at Continental Airlines. Pegoda currently attends Kingwood College and is planning on earning a Bachelor’s Degree with a major in political science and a minor in history from Sam Houston State University. Pegoda has been active in the San Jacinto county Republican Party and has assisted candidates and the party in many roles. He served as a delegate to the county convention and as an alternate to the 2008 State Convention. He worked as an election judge during the 2008 general election. He was also accepted as a volunteer at the Republican National Convention. Pegoda organized, with the assistance of others, the First Lincoln Breakfast which will be held later this month with U.S. Congressman Kevin Brady. “He is an excited, enthusiastic young man who is eager to lead the local Republican Party and has any ideas and plans for encouraging the growth of the Republican Party through programs and fundraising events,” said Republican Executive Committee members. Pegoda currently serves as president of the Republican Club.
