Two San Jacinto County residents arrested in meth lab operation In separate arrests, a Polk County sheriff’s deputy located a meth lab and detained three suspects who were actively manufacturing the drug, according to a statement released by Lt. Andy Lowrie of the Polk County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division. In the early morning hours of Jan. 31, Sgt. William Jerry responded to a report of suspicious activity on Birchfield Road near Mangum Road. Upon arrival, Sgt. Jerry saw a white male walk out of a travel trailer. When Jerry made contact with the man, he identified him as Paul Alan Rogers of Coldspring. Jerry also smelled a very strong chemical odor coming from the travel trailer. Sgt. Jerry ordered two other occupants – Stephanie Moffett, 25, of Goodrich and James Dwight Christian, 26, of San Jacinto County – to step out of the trailer. All three were detained and narcotics detectives were called to the scene. Narcotics detectives obtained a search warrant for the property and the trailer. During the ensuing search, detectives found a methamphetamine lab in the travel trailer along with several chemicals used to manufacture methamphetamine. “Without the community’s involvement in watching their neighborhood, chances are this behavior would have continued at this location,” said Lt. Lowrie. Paul Rogers, Stephanie Moffett and James Christian were arrested on charges of manufacture/ delivery of methamphetamine, a first degree felony and possession or transport of certain chemicals with the intent to manufacture, a second degree felony
