Arrest made in murder of Shepherd man

HUNTSVILLE – An arrest has been made in the Dec. 30, 2009 stabbing death of Shepherd resident John Wayne Mc- Crary. McCrary, 22, died of multiple stab wounds sustained outside a Huntsville nightclub. “Somebody came forward with some information and we were able to move from there,” Altom said. A warrant for Walters’ arrest was issued by 278th District Court Judge Kenneth H. Keeling. Walters’ bond was preset at $100,000. “The arrest was the result of the diligence of numerous investigators and the assistance of concerned citizens in coming forward with information pertinent to the investigation,” Altom said. The Huntsville Police received assistance in the investigation from the Sam Houston State University Police Department, the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission, the Trinity Police Department, the Trinity County Sheriff’s Department and the Texas Rangers with significant assistance from local Ranger Steve Jeter.
