Woman shot by would-be intruder

SHEPHERD – A Shepherd woman is in good condition after being shot by a would-be intruder Jan. 21, around 7 a.m. According to San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Deputies, the woman stated that she was at her home located at Spring Avenue and Fourth Street in Shepherd when she heard a window break and went toward the sound. “As she turned on the light she heard a gunshot through a window. The bullet hit her in the arm,” according to the sheriff’s report. “The suspect ran away without making entry into the home,” the report states. “The victim was taken to Cleveland Emergency Room and later transported to Hermann Memorial Hospital in good condition,” the report states. Detectives and the K-9 unit were called to the scene. The K-9 was able to track the scent back to the road. The case is under investigation and anyone with information leading to an arrest is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 653-TIPS or the sheriff’s offi ce at 936-653-4367.
