Property tax deadlines near
San Jacinto News- Times
COLDSPRING – San Jacinto County property owners, who haven’t already paid their 2010 property taxes, are reminded about two deadlines approaching concerning taxes. According to San Jacinto County Tax Assessor-Collector Betty Davis, property owners have until Monday, Jan. 3 to pay their property taxes and deduct the payment from their 2010 income taxes. Davis said the deadline would normally be the last day of December, however, that day falls on a county holiday so the deadline is extended to the next working day. The other deadline residents want to remember is Jan. 31, 2011. “That is the last day to pay your county property taxes without penalty,” Davis said. More than 43,865 tax statements were mailed to county property owners by the tax offi ce last October. Property owners have the option of paying their taxes online, by mail or in person, Davis said. If you are paying in person, you may do so in the tax assessor- collector’s offi ce in the San Jacinto County Courthouse Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. or at one of two substations. A substation is located at the Shepherd Annex on Monday and Tuesday and in the Point Blank Annex on Wednesday and Thursday from 8 a.m. until noon and from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. If you pay online go the county’s website at www. co.san-jacinto.tx.us, then go to county offi ces and click on Tax Assessor-Collector. In the center of the page click on “pay your ad valorem taxes online,” and follow the directions. |
