30 Shepherd students receive more than $154,836 in scholarship funds

SHEPHERD – Thirty Shepherd High School students were awarded more than $154,836 in scholarships during the 2008 graduation ceremony recently. Brittany Allen received a total of 10 scholarships, including the Blue and White Scholarship for $250; UIL Scholar Award; SHECO Scholarship for $2,000; Women’s League of San Jacinto County for $1,000; Directors of Texas Association of Secondary Schools Principals Award; East Tex Telephone Scholarship for $5,000; Shepherd Middle School Beta Club Scholarship for $1,000; Area Go Texan Scholarship for $2,500 and the Don Jennings Memorial Scholarship. Hayden Crowder received the UIL Scholar Award. Crystin Dawson received the Blue and White Scholarship for $250 and the Sarah Finger Scholarship for $1,000. Blair Derryberry received the UIL Scholar Award. Kingsley Franklin received the Salutatorian award; Blue and White Scholarship for $250 and the UIL Scholar Award. Kamela Franks received the Blue and White Scholarship for $250. Stephanie Harrison received the Blue and White Scholarship for $250. Stephanie Harrison received the Blue and White Scholarship for $250. Gracie Henderson received the UIL Scholar Award. Sarah Hood received a scholarship form Northeast Texas Community College that will cover her tuition, books, meals and housing for two years.

Dusty Hues received a UIL Scholar Award; Blue and White scholarship for $250; Stanley Shrader Scholarship for $1,000; United States Marine Corp Distinguished Athlete Award; National Honor Society Scholarship $400; Gary Wayne Corn Memorial Scholarship for $2,000; Shepherd ISD Ex-Students Association for $1,500; Shepherd FFA Alumni Scholarship for $1,000; Area Go Texan Scholarship for $2,500 and Shepherd Middle School CHARMS Scholarship for $200. Ashley Katz received Imagine Ameri8ca Scholarship for $2,500 and Shepherd Middle School CHARMS Scholarship for $200. Coleigh Koon received the Blue and White Scholarship for $250. Daniel Largent received the United States Marine Corp Semper Fiedels Award and the Shepherd Band Booster Scholarship for $1,250.

Tre’Darious Lewis received the Martha Patterson Scholarship for $300. Brandi McAfee-Johnson received the Shepherd Youth League Scholarship for $250; the Shepherd Ex- Students Association Scholarship for $1,500 and the Shepherd Middle School CHARMS Scholarship for $200. Mary McFai8ren received the Blue and White Scholarship for $250 and the Shepherd Youth League Scholarship for $250. Sarah Page received the UIL Scholar Award; Blue and White Scholarship for $250; Angela Collins Memorial REACH Scholarship for $250 and the Shepherd FFA Alumni Scholarship for $1,000. Andrea Piwko received the Blue and White Scholarship for $250; Shepherd Middle School Beta Club Scholarship for $1,000; Shepherd Athletic Booster Club Scholarship for $750; Texas High School Woman’s Power lifting Association Scholarship for $500 and First Baptist Church of Shepherd Agnes Jarboe Memorial Scholarship for $500. Alana Porter as valedictorian received a scholarship that pays for her tuition for her first year in a Texas public university; Blue and White Scholarship for $250; Shepherd Middle School Beta Club Scholarship for $1,000; Texas High School Rodeo Association Scholarship for $1,100; as an early graduate she will receive a scholarship in the amount of $3,000; the United States Marine Corp Scholastic Excellence Award and Area Go Texan Scholarship for $2,500.

Whitnie Richardson received the Blue and White Scholarship for $250 and the Angela Collins Memorial REACH Scholarship for $250. Lee Riddle received the Blue and White Scholarship for $250. Heather Stephens received the Blue and White Scholarship for $250 and the Shepherd FFA Alumni Scholarship for $1,000. Taylor Strickland received the Blue and White Scholarship for $250. Victoria Tullos received the Blue and White Scholarship for $250; the National Honor Society Scholarship for $400 and the UIL Scholar Award.

Bryan Wells received the Career Colleges and Schools of Texas Scholarship for $1,000; Imagine America Scholarship for $1,000 and Live your Passion Scholarship for $2,500. Megan Whitmire received the Blue and White Scholarship for $250; Shepherd Ex-Students Association for $1,500; Shepherd Primary REACH Scholarship for $250; Shepherd Athletic Booster Club Scholarship for $750; People’s State Bank Gary Corn Memorial Scholarship for $2,500 and the Masonic Lodge Scholarship for $500. Zach Willson received the Blue and White Scholarship for $250 and the Scholarships From page 1 Shepherd Primary REACH Scholarship for $250.

Joshua Wolf received the U.S. Army award of $92,736. Jordan Wood received the Blue and White Scholarship for $250; Dixie Boys Baseball District Directors Scholarship for $300; Shepherd Athletic Booster Club Scholarship for $750 and the Area Go Texan Scholarship for $2,500.
