Women’s league donates $4,700
San Jacinto News- Times - June 2009

COLDSPRING -- The Women’s League of San Jacinto County has ended another successful year, donating about $4,700 to San Jacinto County organizations and citizens. President Barbara Moore reports that members of this year’s fund raising committee were Arnette Daugherty, Martha Burditt, Karen Holton and Nancy Ellis. On May 14, 2009, the league membership supported the executive board’s recommendations to make the following donations:

• Two $1,000 scholarships: one to a graduate of Coldspring-Oakhurst High School and one to a graduate of Shepherd High School. • $500 to help fund licensing fees for students in vocational/ technical programs.

• Gifts/donations to: the Coldspring Area Public Library, the Coldspring Area Business and Merchants Association, Backpack Buddies, Habitat for Humanity, Boys & Girls Club, Project Graduation (COHS and SHS) and Care Share.

The league’s 2008-2009 fund-raising activities included the Christmas Home Tour and the Spring Fashion Show and Silent Auction. Women’s league will hold its first meeting of the 2009-2010 year on Sept. 10, 2009. Members of the community are invited to attend the meeting and/ or join the Women’s League of San Jacinto County.
