One killed in traffic accident

COLDSPRING – An Onalaska resident was killed while a Point Blank resident was taken by Life Flight to Hermann Memorial Hospital, Houston, Friday, June 5, following a two car collision. Killed was 49-year-old Susan Hill Johnson who was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Timothy Chambers, 37, of Point Blank, according to the Department of Public Safety (DPS). DPS reported that Dustin Berryman, 24, of Kirbyville, was traveling east on Hwy. 150 and attempted to make a left turn onto FM 222, failing to yield the right-of-way to Chambers who was traveling west on Hwy. 150. The two vehicles crashed causing major damage to both, according to the report. Berryman was not injured in the accident, the report states. In a separate accident on Wednesday, June 3, Eunice Bernard, 60 of Coldspring struck a guard rail on Hwy. 150 around 5:30 p.m. According to the DPS report Bernard stated she couldn’t see the road for heavy rain. After hitting the guard rail the vehicle slid around and hit it again from the rear of the vehicle, crossing Hwy. 150 and coming to rest in the east bound ditch. Bernard was transported to Livingston Memorial Hospital with possible injuries, according to the report. On Thursday, June 4, a two vehicle accident was reported on FM 3081. According to the DPS report, Marshall Rutledge, 84, of Conroe was headed east on FM 3081 and Mark Risha, 41, of Willis was traveling west.
