San Jacinto News- Times
COLDSPRING -- Santa and his elf Bermard will be arriving in Coldspring for an early visit on Saturday July 30, as part of the Coldspring Area Business and Merchants’ Christmas in July. The Senior Citizens of San Jacinto County will be open for a Christmas in July sale along with other activities. The day will start with a bake sale, with lots of goodies. Of course the resale shop will be open for lots of bargains. Lunch will be available. A sandwich (tuna or chicken salad) on a croissant, chips and tea will be served for a price of $5 a person. And you will be able to enjoy live music from noon until 2 p.m. by James Atkins who will be entertaining with his big band sound from noon – 1 p.m. and Southern Gospel music will be from 1 p.m. – 2 p.m. Performers will be local award winning group “Calvary’s News.” Plan to come visit, eat lunch and stay cool. “Recently we printed an article about the fi nancial condition of the center. We want to say thank you for those who sent donations to help with our program. Our senior center, as well as area centers are having a diffi cult time due to rising prices and reduced income. But we have no intention of closing our doors,” said Coldspring Senior Citizen Director Carolyn Shipp.
