Coldspring cancels city election

COLDSPRING – The City of Coldspring is expected to cancel its May 9 election due to lack of opposition. Three positions are up for re-election for the City of Coldspring. Terms are expiring for Frank McMurrey, Charles Altman and Jay Phillips. All three are seeking re-election but do not have opponents. In the City of Shepherd, three positions are open for election. Those positions are currently held by Olene Reaves, Frankie Wade and Kenny Wittleman. Wade and Wittlleman has not fi led for re-election. Eight candidates have fi led for the three positions. They are Waid Lee Williams, Cynthia Jones Diese, Doug Milford, William J. Rudolph, incumbent Olene Reaves, Tonya E. Beeson, Derlin Barnhill and Raj C. Dalwadi. The three candidates with the most votes will be sworn in. In the City of Point Blank Mayor Lillian Bratton is opposed by Steve Sasser and Councilman Carl Polk is opposed by Paul Singleton.
