Local school districts order May elections

C O L D - S P R I N G – San Jacinto County’s two school districts have called an election to be held May 9 to fi ll expiring positions. In the Shepherd Independent School District (SISD), two positions will expire. Position 6, currently held by Susan Bailes, and Position 7, currently held by Darryl Richardson, will be up for election. Applications to fi le for a position on the SISD ballot, may be picked up in Superintendent Jody Cronin’s offi ce located in the SISD Administration offi ce, on Loop 424, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Deadline for fi ling an application is Monday, March 9 at 5 p.m. In the Coldspring-Oakhurst Consolidated Independent School District (COCISD), three p o s i t i o n s will expire. Position 1, currently held by Gale Altman; Position 2, currently held by Dale Richards and Position 3, which currently has one year remaining, following the resignation of Mark Allen. Applications for a position on the COCISD may be picked up in Superintendent LaTonya Goffney’s offi ce, located in the administration offi ce on Hwy. 150, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Deadline for fi ling an application is Monday, March 9 at 5 p.m. School board elections will be held Saturday, May 9. Early voting will begin April 27 and ends May 5.
