Coach investigated for inappropriate conduct resigns

COLDSPRING -- Coldspring- Oakhurst Consolidated Independent School District Superintendent LaTonya Goffney announces the resignation of high school coach and speech teacher Dennis Isbell. Isbell was placed on administrative leave on Nov. 11 when school offi cials began an investigation into allegations of inappropriate conduct of an educator with students. Wayne D. Haglund, COCISD attorney, says, “The investigation will continue notwithstanding the resignation. “Prior to submission of Isbell’s letter of resignation,” Haglund noted, “the school district notifi ed him that its internal investigation would not end with the resignation.” Isbell submitted the resignation on Feb. 4; COCISD board trustees ratifi ed acceptance of the letter in their regular session on Feb. 23.
