Education funds allocated
San Jacinto News- Times

AUSTIN -- State Representative James White (R-Hillister) announces the allocation of federal education funds that have recently been made available to Texas. School districts in Angelina, Hardin, Jasper, Newton, Polk, San Jacinto, Trinity and Tyler counties will be allocated $9,522,728. The project provides assistance to states to save or create education jobs. The federal grant covers August 10, 2010 - September 30, 2012 and specifi es that no funds may be used for central offi ce employees, administrative expenses, or construction. White noted, “I am pleased that students and teachers in Texas classrooms are rightfully going to receive the signifi cant federal funding that was being withheld. This money will be extremely helpful in preserving the jobs of educators who have devoted themselves to our students and our future.” Of the two school districts in San Jacinto County, Coldspring- Oakhurst Consolidated Independent School District is to receive $300,444 and Shepherd Independent School District is to receive $343,939 as their portion of the education funds.
