Meth lab seized; search continues for robbery suspect

SHEPHERD – A 25-year-old Shepherd man was arrested at his residence on Beeson Avenue and charged with delivery of a controlled substance, a second degree felony. According to the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Department, deputies entered the house on a narcotic warrant and took James Dwight Christian into custody. Deputies also arrested Holly M c C u m - ber, 22, of Shepherd when she was found to be in possession of methamphetamine. A search w a r r a n t was obtained for the residence after deputies located several items consistent with a meth lab inside the residence. The Methamphetamine Initiative Group (MIG) from Houston specializes in the seizure of meth labs and assisted San Jacinto County with the removal of the hazardous items. About 94 grams of methamphetamine was seized from the home and all materials transported to a Department of Public Safety lab for further analysis. Christian faces additional charges of possession of chemicals with intent to manufacture a controlled substance, and manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance, a fi rst degree felony. His bond is set at $150,000. McCumber has been charged with manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance and possession of chemicals with intent to manufacture a controlled substance. Her bond is set at $100,000. Robbery s u s p e c t wanted S a n J a c i n t o C o u n t y Sheriff ’s D e p a r t - ment continues a search for Joseph Luke Chandler. On March 15, about 2:26 a. m. San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a residence in Campbell Acres in reference to an assault that had occurred. Upon arrival deputies found a male victim, 68 years old, who had been beaten and robbed. The victim was conscious and able to tell authorities that a white make, later identified as Chandler, had knocked on his door and asked for a jump for his battery. The victim knew the suspect and proceeded to help him. When the victim turned away from the suspect he was attacked and hit multiple times with a piece of iron pipe. The victim lay unconscious on the ground while the suspect robbed him of his wallet and fled the area. He was transported to Hermann Memorial where he was treated for multiple head wounds, ear laceration and bleeding in the brain. A warrant for aggravated robbery has been issued for the suspect. Chandler is known to travel within San Jacinto, Polk and Liberty counties where he is wanted for a probation violation.
