Chamber activities include membership drive Saturday during April Artisans

COLDSPRING -- The Coldspring/ San Jacinto County Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a membership drive on April 30, at Bad to the Bone Motorcycle Shop across from the chamber offi ce in Coldspring. All members and potential members are invited for a day of fun, free barbecue, homemade ice cream, games and music, according to Coldspring/ San Jacinto County Chamber of Commerce President Paul Shelton. “The April Artisans Show will be going on across the street at the courthouse square during the same time,” Shelton said. Tickets can be acquired at the chamber offi ce Wednesday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., Shelton said. The chamber also has a Cinco de Mayo Mixer planned for May 5, at Crystal’s Bistro on the square in Coldspring. It will be from 5:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. and will feature a “who’s got the best guacamole contest” between Shelton and Crystal, owner of Crystals’s Bistro. There will also be a contest for the best salsa for all who attend, with a one-eighth page chamber directory ad as the prize and possibly a mariachi band. “Please RSVP the chamber website or offi ce for the mixer by May 2,” Shelton said. “The chamber is also proud to announce that Bob Barragan from the Small Business Development Center at Sam Houston State University will be at the chamber offi ce every third Friday of the month. This is a completely free service to anyone who is interested in starting a small business or who already owns a small business. They help with business planning, formulating a business plan, fi ling for SBA or conventional loans, accounting help and more,” Shelton said. If you would like to take advantage of this free resource, call the chamber office Wednesday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. to set up anappointment. The chamber also has three ribbon cuttings scheduled for May, James Eye Associates, Bad to the Bone Motorcycle Shop and a new day care center.
