SISD students excels at UIL

SHEPHERD -- Dylan Gammons, a senior at Shepherd High School, competed in the Region 3 UIL Academic Meet on April 21, in Prose Interpretation. A total of 24 students, divided into three sections, were included in the preliminary round with 6 advancing to finals. Dylan gave a superior performance reading an excerpt from Breathing Underwater by Alex Flinn for the pre-lim round. Dylan placed second out of eight to advance to the next round. In the final round, he read Two Soldiers by William Faulkner, placing third to earn him an opportunity to compete in the state meet in Austin on May 21 and 22. Only 12 Texas students made it to state in the 3A division.
